I was a big fan of the parody magazines when I was a kid and remember his work in Cracked. Later when I started buying the Warren horror comics, I was pleasantly surprised to see his recognizable work there as well. One of my favorite stories from Creepy was the French Foreign Legion-based "Warrior's Ritual" that he illustrated. I could read that story over and over again and pore over his excellent and realistic artwork.

RIP. He was one of the first artists whose style I could recognize. Loved his stuff in Cracked and Semper Fi.

I was fortunate enough to see the original pages to one of Severin's Creepy stories in an exhibit a while back. Truly a master.
