Got around to watching Lethal Nightmare last night and... where to start?
The beginning I guess. When the movie starts, one of the Polonia's, can't remember which one, gets on a riding lawnmower and loses control of it. He 'drives' (careens) all over the lawn in front of the same house that we see in all their early movies. His brother is inside reading porn. He holds up a nudie mag and says aloud 'nice bush.' Then a guy named Christopher shows up, he kind of looks like Horace if Horace wore dark mirrored sunglasses inside all the time. Sadly, Horace doesn't do this. At least not when I'm around.
With those characters introduced, they all start experiencing... a lethal nightmare. They see a Grim Reaper-esque guy with long pointy fingers and bad things start to happen. A kitty cat disappears. A Polonia sits on the toilet, bleeds from his ass and shits out a knife. The basement that is the location of so much Polonia brand terror becomes, once again, a scene of carnage when a head is cut off.
It ends with what is honestly a low budget version of something akin to a Dali painting. It's pretty high concept and genuinely messed up. Without spoiling it, John and Mark found some awesome outdoor locations to use and, well, fuck it - they throw a giant rock at the bad thing and kill it. BUT before that they travel through some sort of mini-Hell/wasteland type thing. It's actually pretty awesome.
definitely more coming, and both versions tho similar are a must see, I love both flicks, giving Lethal Nightmare the edge tho...
I'd agree, after watching the second movie last night. It's still fun but it's not quite as surreal as LN is.
Any shot you've got a re-release of Church Of The Damned happening? After listening to Mark talk about it in the commentary I'd like to see it and didn't even know it had been given the VHS release back in 2013 that you gave it.
yes Church of the Damned is going to be recut from the original footage soon and released in a double feature with Bad Magic. Fans of early Polonia Bros works seem to really love this movie. Btw I liked LN a little better than Hallucinations but Hallucinations ending made more sense (well more sense lol).
Savage Vows - not on the IMDB. Released in a lousy Brentwood 4 pack cheapo bundle or 'erotic thriller' type movies. Not erotic though.
Not Polonia directed, not as much nutty style as they'd have, but Mark is in it and he wears a purple Batman shirt and he's married to a goth chick. This movie starts with the death of a girl named Julie. Her boyfriend then has a cast of local pals/goths/nerds over to his place for a while and then they start getting killed off. They rent some movies and eat some snacks and then a crazy guy and a girl who looks like Rosanne Barr show up. Then they die. Black gloved killer? Yes! Giallo!
Watched this with Alison. She figured out who the killer was but so did I and we were both right. Awesome synth score. White trash camcorder horror at its best/worst.
Yeah Savage Vows was directed by one of their regular actors, at least for a period there, Robert Dennis. Between him and Mark, and the Pa. location, it has that Polonia vibe!
It's called Intimate... something. I can't remember but will check when I get home. It's bundled with three cheesy, cheap skinamax style movies if I remember correctly.
