MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH! The violent cult-classic gets the HD treatment and, for the first time EVER, gets a truly authorized optical disc format release in conjunction with director Rene Daalder. Coming from Synapse Films on DVD and Blu-ray in 2016!


Synapse Films is proud to announce work has begun on MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH, directed by Rene Daalder. Rene has completed and supervised a beautiful HD transfer for us, and we are in the process of locating the original audio sound elements (stored at Paramount, evidently, so we're working with their legal department as fast as we can to get access) and doing some additional work at Reliance Mediaworks/Prime Focus for picture restoration (the master was created from a negative element, but were making it the best we can make it!). Extras are still to be coordinated, so no further info on additional supplemental material is available at this time (Rene is busy now working on a new film, so we are waiting for him). We'll give more info on the release, as we have it. We may be able to post some sample frames of the new HD master in the near future right here, on the Synapse Films Facebook page."

I have been waiting on this to get a release for years now. Heard about the film in one of the Dan Perry Cult Movies books. Then got lucky and caught it late one night on TNT.

They've said no, since having hardcore on a release limits their distribution options (hence the seperate versions of Thriller back in the day). I guess there's always a chance they might include it as a bonus if you buy it direct from them (like the Intruder workprint) but given the footage was spliced in by a foreign distributor who knows where the physical elements for it could be. It's also possible that the director doesn't want that version in circulation.

I like the hardcore stuff in THRILLER but the SEXY JEANS inserts for MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH really seem out of place. This is one of the few times where I'd rather they leave the extra sleaze out.

I don't even see why they should be included. They were never in the original release or in a "director's cut". They were just added by some distributor in another country that wanted to spice up the release for whatever reason. If a Russian distributor added a couple of scenes of two Russian's talking in order to qualify as a Russian release, should they be added? Of course not.

We are finally finishing up Rene Daalder's MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH, a film we've been working on for a while...

So, hopefully it'll be out before the end of the year/early next year.

It's in restoration now. Long story, but I had a TERRIBLE time with a company that did a terrible restoration and threw me months behind schedule on it. New restoration work is due at end of March with a new company, so fingers crossed the new company I hired to do it does it right this time!
