Here's hoping these releases are more like Dark Night Of The Scarecrow and less like Dark Star....

I don't know whether to be excited, or frightened that VCI is planning to release two of my favorite films on blu-ray. CITY OF THE DEAD (aka. HORROR HOTEL), CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS, & RUBY are PRIMO!

I love both Children and City. City should come out okay as the sd version of it looks pretty good so there is hope that it will be really nice.
Children will be more problematic as the dvd versions have frankly looked like shit. My dvd-r of the old VCI vhs looks better than the stateside dvd releases.

Bit of a typo there, Ian.

VCI's first try at a DVD of CHILDREN was a POS eyesore. I didn't bother with their second attempt because it didn't sound like much of an improvement. I want to believe the Blu-ray will be an worthy upgrade, but this company will never get its shit together. Their repeated botching of DARK STAR has also left a horrible taste in my mouth.

I'm curious if they found the supposedly cut gore in Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things. CHPWDT is an interesting low budget zombie flick. The beginning is quite good but then it just drags for literally a solid hour with nothing happening except lame attempts at humor and Alan Ormsby acting creepy. The final 10-15 minutes kind of redeems it.

I'm guessing it's the same film source just rescanned in HD.

Ah Children of the Living Dead! Yes, the middle of the movie, most of it rather, is quite dull but its lovable for it flaws. Just drink some coffee before viewing.
Welcome to Costco, I love you.

Definitely a wait for reviews release, as mentioned, extremely doubtful VCI obtained a new, improved source + their encodes tend to blow.

                              Artwork is definitely awful.
