Marwencol (2010) is the best documentary I've seen this year. It may be the best film I've seen this year.

Dear Zachary : A Letter to a Son about his Father is superb, it's also one of the saddest documentaries/films I've ever seen. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152758/
I'm not embarrassed to say it but I teared up several times. It's streaming on Netflix currently. Sniff..

Apocalypse: World War II
This is probably not a "lesser known" doc but definitely the best one I've watched all year. A WWII doc from France in HD with footage and facts not shown in your average History Channel program.
Stalingrad (2003)
As much as I love their horror and cult output, this is one of my very favourite Synapse releases. It's filmed from the Russian and German perspective and features rare footage from the Russian archives.

These documentaries aren't exactly awesome but I made note of them back when Robin was asking for trades on avmaniacs since they'd be right up his alley.
9 to 5: Days in Porn (Strand Releasing, 2010)
"Filmed over a period of more than a year, ten different stories unfold, delivering insight into the personal lives of people in the adult movie business, their hopes and their dreams."
Starring: Sasha Grey, Belladonna, Katja Kassin, Audrey Hollander, Roxy Deville, Dr. Sharon Mitchell
NSFW Trailer (Quicktime)
Hotrod The Movie (5290 Films, 2007)
"In 1998 HotRod Joey Kemp entered the Lansdowne Demolition Derby and won 1st place. But his injuries were so severe his doctors told him never to compete again.
'HotRod the Movie' is the real-life story of HotRod Joey Kemp's return into one of the world's most dangerous sports, Demolition Derby!"

Saw Comic Book Confidential on your list, Robin. I had a VHS tape with a recording made off of CityTV from when I still lived in Ontario that I watched I don't know how many times. That was a pretty rad movie. On a similar note, Crumb should probably get mentioned in this thread as well.Rock! Shock! Pop!

We just watched that last week (End of the Century). I agree, it's very well done. Not the most technically proficient movie but it really cuts to the chase and gets to details in a great way. That movie kinda makes me sad though, as a kid I always saw the Ramones as the best of friends no matter what. It shattered that idea, haha.Rock! Shock! Pop!
