I saw the news on tv this morning, he was getting mentions on the major newscasts. I really dislike SCREAM but THE HILLS HAVE EYES in particular really creeped me out as a youngster. I'm old enough to remember the ads for that one on tv and they were genuinely disturbing. The original NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET was also quite impactful, I remember seeing that in the theater with some friends and then spending the night in my buddy's basement and all of us were freaked out in the dark, haha. He made some real stinkers but had a handful that are timeless. Really impressive how he made an impact over generations. RIP

Does anyone know anything about the Italian DVD of Wes Craven's The Fireworks Woman?

Appears to be Italian Language only. If the running time is correct this could be uncut.

To answer my own question, this appears to be uncut (certainly more complete than the bootleg I've seen), it runs a few seconds shy of 80 minutes. It's taken from a moderately damaged, nicely grainy Italian print with a few subtitled inserts from a US VHS. For vintage porn, this looks okay, certainly better than most US vintage releases from old tape masters (but obviously not Vinegar Syndrome quality). Shame about the Italian only audio, but I'd advise anyone interested to snap it up before Amazon realise what the fuck it is they're selling!

Just noticed there is one shot I've seen in the trailer that's not in it: the fisherman screwing the fish. I don't know if that was ever in the film itself or just the trailer, but it's not in the Italian version. Strangely enough there's some pretty random footage from a biker film added to try and give more back story.
