To be precise, they are releasing Terrifying Girls' High School: Animal Classmates, which is the 4th film in the series.

If you're wondering why they are releasing part 4 of the series instead of part 1, this likely the reason:

Though I'm still confused why they they announced the 4th film only and not the 3rd also (neither one are Suzuki films, unlike the first two).

Pinky Violence is back!! This time last year I thought it was dead on physical media. So excited. Fingers-crossed we get a large Sukeban (Girl Boss) boxset before it fades again. And definitely want all of the Terrifying Girls' High School films.

        Crikey, great news!

Not even so much for the film itself (don't think I've seen this one?), but just for the fact that a film from one of the core Toei PV series has FINALLY appeared on blu-ray in the English-speaking world.

Intriguing to learn that Norifumi Suzuki's films (well, the ones liable to appeal to Western 'cult' audience I'm assuming, maybe not ALL of them?) are already under license to someone.... have been waiting for HD releases of some of his films for what feels like an eternity, so, fingers crossed.

yeah, I thought stuff like sex and fury, school of the holy beast and the pinky violence collection (panik house) were all no-brainers for an early hd-upgrade, but they are still nowhere to be seen!

            I know, right?!

For a while back there, I was wondering whether Arrow were deliberately avoiding PV titles because so much of their content is grossly offensive to modern sensibilities.... but since they're now happily releasing Teruo Ishii torture films, they clearly have no qualms on that score, so who knows...

Yes, please take me back to when one could search "Girl Boss" and just get Pinky Violence films in the results!

Was hoping for proper boxsets w/extras of Terrifying Girls High School and other Toei Pinky Violence series, but at this point whatever works The original Pinky Violence Panick House boxset is old enough to be graduating high school

Is this the third of these PV Blu-ray releases from Discotek? Gotta catch 'em all!

Hopefully Discotek stays on a roll. The last few announcements have been great! This and Bohachi Bushido are instant purchases for me.

That is one possible interpretation, and one I'd much prefer to any alternatives. Like Toei simply not wanting, for whatever reasons, to license his films to foreign distributors. Or them not being able to grant such licenses at the moment because of legal disputes. Maybe this also explains why Arrow included clips from Suzuki's TOKUGAWA SEX BAN on one of their BDs but never actually announced or released the film?

The first film is a mind-blower.

Yeah, sadly, that seems like a definite possibility.

Although the choice of Japanese films western labels end up releasing can often feel fairly random, I think it's notable that (as far as I can recall) none of Suzuki's Toei films have appeared on blu-ray to date, whereas their other 'name' directors (Ishii, Fukasaku) are fairly well represented.

Pure speculation, but I wonder if there's been an issue with the settlement of his estate or something? Admittedly, my assumption would have been that a company like Toei would hold sole copyright over their materials and anyone else could stuff it, but how else to explain the complete absence of his movies from circulation, despite their obvious notoriety/cult following...?

Watched this yesterday (first time with subs?) and liked it better than I remembered. It's not quite as good as the other three in the series, but it gets the job done. Probably have to pass on Jeans Blue, but hopefully Discotek will overlook this and keep releasing these films.

I forgot to share this before, but the rest of the Terrifying Girls' High School films have been licensed to the US:

"I asked about the other Terrifying Girls High School movies recently and they have all been licensed for the US. So coming from someone. Just not us, lol.

If all goes well, there will be another pinky violence film from NEV next year, and a sort of pinky violence-adjacent movie, plus the wildest of all 70s yakuza movies. "

With this bit of info, and Film Movement having Red Peony Gambler 2, it seems the licensing issue with Suzuki films (Jared mentioned before that Suzuki's Toei films were not available for licensing, which was also obvious from the fact that not a single Toei Suzuki film has been released on BD outside of Japan despite dozens of them having HD masters available) has been resolved!
