  • Twin Peaks...continued????

    From TWTCH.

On June 10th 1991, Special Agent Dale Cooper entered the Black Lodge while his evil doppelganger exited. And we know from events in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me that Cooper would stay there for the next 25 years. And now it would appear that he's preparing to emerge with Twin Peaks creators David Lynch and Mark Frost tweeting simultaneously at 11:30am this morning that "That gum you like is going to come back in style. #damnfinecoffee"

We don't know what they're planning. We know that it's arrival is likely a year or two away (unless of course the intent is to return to the town and deal with the doppelganger for a bit before the actual Cooper returns) but whatever it is I'm strapping in and very happily getting ready for something weird.
Not sure how much of the PHENOMENON of Twin Peaks can be re-ignited after all these years....but it will be damn interesting to see what they come up with.

Yeah, I'm on board even if it sucks. Which it can't. Bring those characters back....well, not Annie.....and it's gonna be great

I'm a massive fan of Lynch but I never got into this series. I thought the pilot was all right but I never had the interest to watch more than that.

Pretty much the same with me. The first series is good. Lot of stuff I don't like in it. The second series meanwhile is a disaster. Half the episodes in that series are unwatchable. The narrative arc is horrible with the show seemingly being wrapped up mid series and then half heartedly rebooted with a massive loss of momentum. I believe Lynch was away making Wild At Heart at the time so perhaps not too much blame can be laid at his door.

So give Twin Peaks a half pass and Mullholland Drive looked very promising but Lynch's other tv work is awful. It may not be his medium.

I prefer his theatrical stuff too, but if he were to bring it back, obviously I'd have to give it a shot. It was such a phenomena when it first debuted. I remember I wasn't allowed to watch it if my sister was around because my mom thought it was too dark.

Woah... Showtime is definitely the right place for Lynch.

Guess I'll have to watch the series now.

I'm beyond excited but there's one major thing that I haven't seen addressed anywhere. With Frank Silva being dead I'm wondering what the new episodes will do about Bob?

This just feels very very wrong. And very very "moneygrab".

I have high hopes for it. It's been said over and over again that the second series of the show fell to pieces because of the network pressuring Lynch and Frost to reveal the killer, and to come through with 20 some-odd episodes for the rest of the season. I think that with Lynch and Frost at the helm again and (hopefully) very little input from Showtime, that we'll get a kickass show out of it. I revisited the original series recently, and it's amazingly wonderful how fricken sinister that first season is. There's so much ugliness going on, it's hard to believe it was on a mainstream TV network.
