  • Westworld Coming To HBO?

    Dread Central says yes.

"HBO, in one of its biggest commitments ever, is producing a pilot for a new series inspired by the film.

Per Deadline, the potential series hails from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot, "Person of Interest" creator Jonathan Nolan, and producer Jerry Weintraub. The Warner Bros. TV project, which has received a pilot production commitment, marks the first major cable sale for Bad Robot."

Ha, rad. In all seriousness though, there's potential for this to work and at least if it's on HBO we don't have to worry they'll try to make it kid friendly.

"THR reports that Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood are heading West for HBO and J.J. Abrams. The pair has been tapped to star in the premium cable network's Abrams-produced "Westworld" adaptation, which has been formally picked up to pilot."

Plenty of room to evolve this story if done right...and , like what was mentioned above, HBO don't need to be pandering to the kiddies and tone this stuff down.

The effects (while more "realistic") will probably not be as creepy as the original Yul Bryner ones...They gave me nightmares as a child!!

"American cable network HBO have today announced that they've given a series order to Westworld, a small screen reboot of the 1973 movie of the same name which was written and directed by Michael Crichton.

That focused on a malfunctioning robot at a futuristic amusement park, but this version of Westworld is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. That's obviously quite vague, but with J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan behind the scenes, we're not too surprised!

The amazing cast which has so far been assembled for the hour long drama includes the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsí¸ Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, and Simon Quarterman.

Nolan will serve as executive producer, writer and director on the series, which hails from Bad Robot Productions. J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk will all also executive produce the series.

There's no word on when exactly Westworld will debut, but a vague premiere date of 2015 has been given. It's likely that we probably won't see it until next Autumn when it takes the place of Boardwalk Empire."

Looks like they've amped up the sex a bit too - maybe it'll be a mix of Westwold and Sex World, haha.

"Series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were always confident, always intent on dispelling any serious concern about the show's fate, and now our patience has paid off. Production has begun wrapping, and the official Twitter account has posted that the series will premiere this fall."

I mostly crap on anything new but this is something I'm actually interested in.

First TV show I've looked forward to in a long while.
