I've been watching McCracken's Wander over Yonder on Disney+ and the animation on a Disney budget is really beautiful, colourful and wild. It's very much in the tradition of slapstick cartoons with plenty to keep kids and adults entertained. Highly recommend it.

    Coming /24/24.

    https://amzn.to/4axL4kn

"In the city of Townsville, the frustrated Professor Utonium is gathering all the ingredients to make a perfect little girl (sugar, spice, and everything nice). But when his lab assistant, a monkey named Jojo, causes the accidental addition of Chemical X to the mix, the Professor ends up with not one but 3 perfect, powerful little girls. It soon becomes obvious that Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup are not normal girls, they have superpowers and have not yet learned to control. The girls are treated like outcasts because they have inadvertently wrecked Townsville in a superpowered game of tag. To win the hearts of the people of Townsville, the girls are tricked into making a deal with Jojo who plans to take over Townsville. As the girls foil this threat and defeat an army of superpowered monkeys, the Powerpuff Girls learn that with great power comes great responsibility."

Maybe its not easy to tell with that one picture at the start of the thread, but I'd argue that the character designs are essentially unchanged. It's just a different art style. This might not be readily apparent from the one illustration at the start of this thread, but watching the show I never once felt any of the characters didn't look "right".

Yeah, there's a post on the page before where sukebanboy said that I could just copy and paste that into any comment on the new show and be right. :) I haven't seen the new one, so can't judge.

well, I could, but I'd be wrong.

    Not that I'd admit it.

One could also argue that much of the "originality" of the original was borrowed from anime, but I get your point. I just prefer the no outline art style to the uber fat outline style. But the story and tone of the new version nicely matches the original and for me that is at least as important as the visual component.

You just need to copy and paste this response from Mark into ANY new post on this thread...and it will be relevant, 100% right and hard to argue against..

Haha, I had a love/hate affair with this show as a kid. I possessed a dose of misogyny and was appalled by the show's premise of little girl superheroes. I derided the show a lot, yet still kept tuning in. I knew deep down inside that I loved it, but kept living in denial. At one point, I even wished the villains would hit a victory, but that never happened. Great show with a damn catchy end theme.

The original voices are at least a step in the right direction, but the new characters look so devoid of what made the original awesome...I guess it won't really affect me this time around, anyway.

    That set is rad.

More on the revamp here. At least they've got the original voice actors back.
