I always found it ironic that the person who played Septa Unella looks like she could have been in a Russ Meyer film out of that costume.
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

Yeah, she's a real stunner out of the costume. Don't think I'd have recognized her. She was so good in that role.

One of these days in the near future I'm going to watch the whole thing again (for the 4th time).

There was an episode of the Sky tv after show she did, and those puppies were not strapped down!

Anyone up for House Of The Dragon? I never got into Game Of Thrones. Fantasy's not really my thing to start with and it all felt a bit sprawl-y and unwieldy. Decided to give House Of The Dragon a go from the first episode because there were No Other Options. Anyway, I might, might, be into this. It's definitely looking like a much simpler tale than GoT, the first episodes focused on a few main players in a battle for succession within a single family. I was wondering from the trailer how big of a role Matt Smith was going to have in it. *note. on a first pass I wrote how "big of a part Matt Smith was going to have in it" but given how often he's getting his kit off that felt like a double entendre and so I went back and changed it to "role". Anyway, he seems to be the main character which is a wise choice though it is discombobulating to see Doctor Who wandering round in the buff and calling people 'cunts'. Not sure I'm okay with it.

Blood and breasts are plentiful and the CGI is surprisingly rope-y. It all feels very Game Of thrones-ish but on a smaller scale. Whcih is nice. Although! Major fucking faux pas, they didn't play the music at the start. No opening credits at all in fact and the opening credits were always the best bit of GoT.. Don't panic though. A variation on the theme plays over the end credits so I think it was just a tease to have us gnashing our teeth. I assume the theme and new credits for next weeks episode.

I tried GOT and bailed after what was, admittedly, a good first season. Like yourself, I'm not huge on fantasy (never did finish the 3rd Lord Of The Rings movie) but am a Matt Smith fan and so I do want to check this out for that reason. I guess you can go into it semi-blind and follow it all then?

Definitely. In fact it may be easier if you are not a GoT fan. My partner was a fan and she found it a bit confusing because the character surnames marked them as being ancestors of GoT characters and it was hard to keep matching everyone up with their descendants. No such worries for me as none of the names meant anything. It feels like a new story if you haven't seen the original.

Something about the way they manfully sport their wigs gave parts of this first episode a real Kids in the Hall vibe, and now I kind of want to see them in COVID-length silver tresses. Maybe this should have gone in the KITH thread.
