I read that article out of curiosity, Ian, and that Alvarez chap, frankly, sounds like a bloody moron. His conclusion: 'With this country heading towards a socialized system of government, in which officials don't want you to think or focus on what is important for your own personal growth, I'm sure they're more than happy to let you obsess over something as stupid as zombies. And in turn, you ultimately become the zombie'!?!? The last time I read such rambling drivel was in a half-arsed essay that I had to fail.

      • I have never watched this. Everyone I know here tells me "You wont like it, because you like zombie Movies". So my fellow R!S!P!ers, should I give this a shot or should I stay clear like my Swedish friends tell me?

I hear the same things, and was raised on zombie films, Chris, and I like it. It can be very frustrating at times, but I think it's worth the investment.

          • Let's rate each season on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best.

Since I've never watched the program, how you guys rate each season will determine whether or not I give this program a chance.

How do you rate season 1?

I saw the first three episodes and that was enough. Every character sucked and I wanted them all to die. When they weren't all dead after ep 3, I quit.

1-10 (5 is too small scale for me)
                S1: 8,5
                S2: 5
                S3: 7
S4: 4 so far (after 2,5 episodes, couldn't watch third episode in one sitting so I took a break in the middle)

                Possible spoilers ahead:
At this point I'm simply bored with this series. None of the old characters is interesting enough to keep me interested for 4th season. Plenty of new characters came to the prison this season, but there wasn't a single interesting scene with any of them. Most were just used as a zombie meat. Only direction it can go to keep me interested is to become weirder and crazier. Bring me crazy Nazi doctor making cyborg-zombie army or attack of zombie cows/squirrels/pigeons or reveal that zombie plague is caused by aliens and make them fight with UFOs or introduce a gang of gay zombie rapists wearing latex and riding Harleys. There's so many ideas, but looks like they want to bore me to death. I think I'm gonna drop it at this point.

                • Love it or hate it, it's been renewed for a fifth season. No surprise there, really.

                  • I thought about buying the program, but I think I'll get the rest of DEADWOOD instead. Could be I have enough zombie action in the house. I've been meaning to look into THE TUDORS and ROME as well. And then there's JUSTIFIED and BOARDWALK EMPIRE.

                    • I'd definitely prioritise JUSTIFIED and BOARDWALK EMPIRE over THE WALKING DEAD.

                      • I'd prioritise Rome over all of 'em. I'm not a big fan of these new wave of quality cable shows but I liked Rome a lot.

                        • ROME was indeed very good.

                          • Good old GEORGE ROMERO.....resisted the pull of a quick buck.......

“They asked me to do a couple of episodes of 'The Walking Dead,' but I didn't want to be a part of it,” Romero said in the Halloween edition of The Big Issue. “Basically it's just a soap opera with a zombie occasionally. I always used the zombie as a character for satire or a political criticism, and I find that missing in what's happening now.”

                            • Oh, he's right. It definitely is a soap opera. Has been from the start. That's part of what I like about it though.
