I've only dipped in and out but it seemed to me the show peaked around the end of season 5 through the early part of season 6. We've discussed it before, I think, but I'll admit to having the same feelings. First season was pretty good, and after a few troughs it peaked at the end of S4 with 'The Grove' - which I'd say is an excellent hour of television - and fell into a terrible downward spiral after that. In my defence, I've only kept going to S8 because it's free to watch and, requiring not a great deal of concentration, it's easy enough to have in the background whilst doing other things (eg, developing rolls of film). This just proves why US shows go on for far too long. What is it with US TV companies milking shows long after they've passed their sell by date?
