  • I broke down and subscribed to Sling TV this year to feed my college football addiction and they've had all the DSOTR plus all the TFTT available on demand for like 2 months.

We got DISH in the living room. So I can DVR it off VICE. But I also pay for FRNDLY which gives me VICE and like 40 other channels and a cloud DVR. A DVR that I fill up with reruns of Taxi,Maude and all the cartoons METV Toons airs. Besides Captain Planet, fuck Captain Planet.

      • I'm not a wrestling expert by any stretch so everyone probably knew about Brutus Beefcake's face getting caved in except me. What a crazy story.

And you do have to wonder if there's more to the split between he and Hogan than is let on in that episode.

I didn't know about the face injury either. And I'm and even bigger mark because I didn't realize he was the Disciple in N.W.O. until I watched the episode!

I feel like the drama between he and Hogan goes something like this: In Hogan's mind, he probably feels like I hooked Beefcake up with X,Y & Z over the years, so he should be happy with whatever cuz he wouldn't have had jack shit without me. In Beefcake's wife's mind (what's her name, Missy or something? Misty?), my husband's a STAR, he never got the payday he really deserved back in the day, and he certainly deserves way more now for whatever appearances he makes. As for Beefcake himself, he loves Hogan like a brother, but he's gotta live day to day with his lady.

My guess would be that's the crux of the issue. Gratitude vs entitlement.

You're probably right, but to me it seemed like they brought up the issue towards the end only to then sort of skirt part it. You can tell Brutus still wants to be besties with Hulk for sure and that he clearly loves his wife and that maybe there's something else not covered in the episode that drove the wedge between them.

But then, what do I know.

The story is supposedly Brutus was selling fake signed 8x10s of Hogan at cons. Then got accused of stealing some Hogan merch from Hogan's home.

Who knows it is wrestling. Seen guys hate each other for years over minor things.

Hogan is kknown for being close with guys then cutting ties. Look at Nasty Boy Knobbs. Was Hogan's best friend for years now nothing.

I figured you'd have some insight here, thanks! You do have to wonder how much of it is true and how much if it is just wackiness but it's still interesting stuff for sure.

Dude isn't well known now,but the stories. Like the time he had been awake 3 days dropped some acid before a cage match and saw spiders climbing the cage.

Or all the other crazy shit with Colt.

I hope if Tales of the Territories gets a second season they do more on Memphis. Heard so much about that region from shoots, books and the people that were there. Like the great story about Lawler drawing Donald Duck Fucking Minnie Duck on a chalkboard at an all girls school.

It is odd I will watch hours of docu style stuff on pro wrestling. But actual matches I gotten to where I prefer being there live. Might be I hit up so many shows every year.
Just watched the Chris Colt episode last night, and nearly pissed myself laughing at the cage match LSD story. Something about the way Jim Cornette laid it out was just too funny.

Kinda felt like that pretentious college professor/pornographer dude was mistaking a decision Colt likely made out of economic necessity with some sort of empowering, defiant act of homosexual pride. (If his wrestling career was still afloat, would he really have done those videos?) But that's all speculation on my part.

Speaking of Memphis, where's the Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert DSOTR? He was my guy back in the day!

                  • We just finished the Harley Race episode so the Chris Colt one is up next. I've never heard of the guy before!

I kind of got the same vibe, he was clearly running low on options when he made those videos. That isn't to say that being proud of his homosexuality couldn't have been a part of it, and he probably had a lot of fun doing it, but it did kind of sound like Colt was pretty desperate at this point.

                      • That episode on Sensational Sherri was interesting, as I didn't know much about her at all. Heartbreaking about her son though, that part was really sad.

                        Sandman episode coming up next!

I've been jumping around the various seasons of DSOTR, watching the episodes about subjects I'm most familiar with/interested in. Just watched the Adrian Adonis episode and the Brian Pillman two-parter--I'm not ashamed to say both of those stories got me choked up. Especially the scenes with Pillman's son discussing growing up without his father.

Sherri was a childhood favorite. So once I got online started researching her. So much talent lost to drug abuse.

Not sure if this was mentioned in Darkside. Back when she was still living in South LA,Sherri would model for phone sex ads. Someone learned this and went through a pile of mid to late 80s porn mags. Looking for the pics in teh phone sex ads. Found them.

Wasn't sure. Haven't seen that episode in a long time.

Right now got a Sherri Martel trading card as a bookmark in my current boook.
