Hey Matt! Sorry I didn't see this till now I've been busy. I've decided to finally self publish my comicbook so it's all I've been doing. I've been posting art and updates on Instagram: www.instagram.com/scottgerardruhl/

The Yellowstone cast did a round table shot at the ranch:

And Kelly Reilly did a short video discussing Season 5. Sounds like it won't be the last so I'm guessing Season 6 will be the end. Season 4 while obviously a little scattered and weak had some of my very favorite moments. Number one being Jimmy's arc and him gaining the respect of John, Rip and Lloyd. He's now a cowboy and a man. For me the series can end on that note and I'd be happy. Sheriff Donnie's death was heartbreaking and came out of nowhere. The first half of Season 5 premiers Sunday, November 13! I cannot wait!

On the other hand I thought 1883 absolutely blew Yellowstone away. I wasn't fully on board with a huge sprawling franchise. I got other things to do than watch endless spinoffs. But if they are all this good I will make the time. I probably won't check out all seven (!) of Taylor's upcoming shows but I'm on board for the western stuff. Bass Reeves and 1923 (previously named 1932). I mean they got Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren for 1923! Holy shit!

I don't care about awards but watching Yellowstone get snubbed for everything and labeled a conservative show has been mind boggling. But whatever.

I hope all you guys are doing good!

        Thanks!
I'd recommend watching 1883. It's stand alone and only 10 episodes. 1883 has Sam Elliott! And a cameo with Tom Hanks!
Then if you like that you can check out 1923 when it comes out with Harrison Ford and Hellen Mirren!!

That's rad. Glad you've been keeping busy.

Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

I am, thanks! It was hell, I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and couldn't stop vomiting for a day. Once I was able to keep food down I got better real fast. 1 in 4 guys gets a hernia in their life, be careful fellas! I did get told by my work that I have to be back in the office now so the comic thing will be slow going while I look for a new job. sigh. 1 month until YELLOWSTONE! YEE-Haw!

                    • Looks like there's a potential spin off in the works as well as some prequals.

Well, the other spinoffs and prequels were good, so makes sense to mine it longer.

                        • Good, lengthy interview with Sheridan here about the show, Costner and the Sheridan empire: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv...ew-1235519261/

He comes across as a serious dickhead but that's probably close to inevitable when you have the success he's had. I wasn't aware he was scripting these shows entirely on his own. That's a bit incredible. His statement on the writers strike is an interesting one. One of the core tenants of the strike is that producers will need to hire fixed numbers of writers to be employed for fixed numbers of weeks on shows whether they are needed or not. When a mans writing a show by himself like Sheridan that quickly looks ridiculous: “If they tell me, ‘You’re going to have to write a check for $540,000 to four people to sit in a room that you never have to meet,’ then that’s between the studio and the guild. But if I have to check in creatively with others for a story I’ve wholly built in my brain, that would probably be the end of me telling TV stories.” It's going to be long strike.

Really good interview. I hate to say it but I think to find that level of success you do have to be a bit of a dick. I do believe the best art is uncompromising and IMO Costner sounds like the one who blew it. Sheridan has shown a sense of humor about himself. Costner just seems no fun. They both have egos but it's Taylor's world and he's proven his success again and again. I don't understand the need for minimum writers in a room, that just sounds dumb.

I still love Yellowstone. It's too bad it's tapered off a bit and I do hate that Costner is going to be written out off screen. I could nitpick it to death but I find even the weakest episodes to be endlessly rewatchable. It's the setting that's the star. And the music. 1883 and 1923 are way better than the main series, IMO, proper period adventure films with none of the silliness that pervades Yellowstone. But I still prefer Yellowstone. Glad to hear we might get 10 episodes instead of 6 (squeeeeeeee!)

They didn't mention Jeremy Renner's accident slowing down MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN.

Really appreciated the mention of WIND RIVER and it made me think, with all his zillion shows on tv if he'll ever make another movie?

                            • I couldn't get into Yellowstone or the one set in the 19th century. I'm close to finishing season 1 of 1923 though as with this one there were hangin's and huntin's and shootin's right from the very first episode. Those elements slow down a bit as things go but they get replaced with some surprisingly porn-y bits with Timothy Dalton so, you know, swings and roundabouts.

There's two parts to this show that sit together surprisingly well. One is setting up a kind of manifesto of traditional values of the American way that is stated often and loudly. Not sure as an artsy, liberal wanker I should be watching this type of thing but no doubt it puts hair on the chest. The other is it is definitely an old fashioned Mills & Boon style bodice ripper. And I finally get why this is the most watched telly in America. There's something for everyone. The guys get men with guns on horseback and the women get barely contained heaving bosoms pressed up against manly men who just saved them from a crocodile or some such. The women folk are into that kind of thing...

High production values- though some of the shots of Africa definitely appear to be stock-, wild coincidences and happenstances that would make Agatha Christie blink, and barely 15 minutes go by without blood or breasts. I may not respect myself afterwards but I will definitely finish the series. Possibly today given opportunity.
