  • Anyone Familiar With Tubi TV?

Kept getting ads for Tubi TV, figured I'd check it out since it's free and our TV had the app pre-loaded. Kicker is that it does have ads, and if you've been without cable for years, even the minimal ads they have will get on your nerves in a big way; even if it's nowhere near what it used to be like watching a film on network TV.

The reason I mention it is because they have a HUGE selection of stuff that I didn't ever expect to see here, like Hard Ticket To Hawaii, Death Bed, Assault on Precinct 13, etc. Downside is that I've flipped through a few selections; Hard Ticket being the first because of Ian's review; and it looks like some of their films use old transfers that may or may not have been PD at one point. Anyone with any tubi experience have anything to add? As much as I love the lack of commercials and high quality of a lot of their material, I'm getting annoyed with Netflix these days; their cost keeps going up, and they're focusing far more on "Netflix Original Content" than shit I actually want to see, though I imagine if you like watching "reality" shows of people in jail, it's pretty great.

One downside of tubi is that the app interface is garbage, it's on par with amazon prime video for enjoyable user interface.

Moving this to TV. Anyway, yeah, I have it on our Roku and they have a pretty impressive selection of stuff. Usually decent HD quality too but as you note above, not always. Didn't realize Hard Ticket was there. The ads don't bug me all that much.

Ah, yeah, I dumped it in general because I haven't checked out their TV selection at all.

Never heard of this. Doubt it will ever come here. But agree about Netflix. Im this -><- close to cancelling my subscription to it, just because they focus solely on their own garbage.

I have used TubiTV off and on for a few years now. Decent selection of stuff. Found some obscure 80s horror on it.

I just watched Hitchcock's DIAL M FOR MURDER a week or so ago on Tubi and it seemed like a nice print. Enjoyed my viewing experience. I had never heard of Tubi prior to this.

Tubi is a free service. Is it geo blocked? I didn't think it was because we've got it in Australia and we don't get anything usually.

"Tubi is the largest free movie and TV streaming service in the US. We are not available in Europe due to changes in EU laws" is what they say.

Ah huh, strange we get it here. That's a shame, you'd dig it. It has all the direct to video trash a man could desire. VPNs, btw, are awesome.

Yes, perhaps I shall have to cyber-pretend to be some kind of foreigner for this.

Checked Tubi last night. They got piles of the films Sterling Entertainment put out. Watched most of Evil Sister.

Tubi TV has thousands of horror titles alone, many of which are not on Netflix, Hulu, or even Amazon Prime Video. One of these is SENNENTUNTSCHI; the movie was 116 minutes, with 5-7 minutes of ads dispersed throughout the film in 5 or 6 blocks.

That one is on Amazon and Netflix in Canada. Licensing is so weird sometimes.
