I don't know why anyone expected this not to be a train wreck, considering it's the bozos behind Riverdale making it. I'll probably watch it with my wife and daughter and we will all heckle it and wonder why we aren't watching something better.

I had reasonably high hopes for this but maybe that's because I've never watched an episode of Riverdale.

Sad that they didn't do a straight adaptation of the comic.

Watched the first episode this morning. It wasn't jokey though beyond that I couldn't say how true to the previous incarnations it was. I was too old to watch the earlier series and I don't read a lot of comics. Though I suspect it doesn't share much DNA with either- despite the 50s vibe it's very much a modern day tale. Very aware of itself as a post #metoo program for instance.

I think one episode is probably enough for me. It's a teen drama squarely aimed at teenage girls. I'm not a teenager or a girl and I think you need to tick off at least one of those to really get into this.

Lead actress is impressive though. Very self assured in a way you'd expect from a much older actress. Can't stand the character she's playing though. And it looks great. And there were a few good moments. Hell, I'll possibly give it one episode once I finish with Bodyguard.

Gonna be a few days before I get a chance to watch it. Hoping it stays very close to the comic.

My girlfriend was watching the second episode so I tuned in. Change my dismissive first impression to a wait and see. It's a very unusual show...

Masturbatin' Sally isn't nearly as annoying as I thought she'd be. Two episodes in, this is not bad at all. Only gripe so far is that stupid vaseline-smeared camera lens bullshit that dominates almost every frame.

That's a shame, that statue is fucking awesome.

Anyway, it's my "on the treadmill show", and I just finished it. It's quite good, overall. Definitely went some places I wouldn't have expected, but also had some genuine moments of dumb; the dream demon episode, for example; but generally, a pleasant watch with some good casting.

Watched the first episode last night. It was ok. Seemed like they crammed a LOT into that first episode but I imagine things will get fleshed out a bit more as it progresses. I wasn't blown away by it but I liked the first episode enough that I'm willing to watch a few more and see if it improves. It's cool seeing Michelle Gomez and Lucy Davis in this.

Plus a Xmas special mid December I'm told. They're really pumping this show out.

Xmas special is December 10th, I think. I'll check it out. Show grew on me by the end of the season.
