This theater is only a few blocks from where I live. Honestly the screens were stained, the projectors often misframed or out of focus, the audiences noisy... but I could see a movie for $3 instead of going to Manhattan and paying $14. I'd go for things like the Dawn of the Dead remake or Rob Zombie films, titles I wasn't terribly psyched about but curious enough to check out. The sad thing is there had been a theater in this spot since the 40's and it's probably going become a drug store or condos. Incidentally there is also a former 2000 seat movie palace nearby, built in 1930, that is now a Jehova's Witnesses assembly hall. They've really kept the place up... though they obviously removed the pagan artwork that was fashionable at the time.
