This is probably just a sign of me nearing my mid-40's but I am confused by what is the current "rock genre" that is popular and being played on the radio?
Growing up there was Hair Metal then Grunge. Both were significant and both were on the charts with ample radio play as well as record sales.
What is that today? My son Eli listens to Black Veil Brides, Pierce the Veil, Amity Affliction, Asking Alexandria. All of which suck my asshole. But none of which are played on the radio. Here in the Lou our only "rock station" is the legendary K-SHE 95. K-SHE plays classic rock mostly. Then we have the Iggy Azela and Katy Perry stations.
So what is today's equivalent of our Hair Metal and Grunge? There does not seem to be a genre of radio rock anymore. Or am I just a mid-40's jaded asshole?
