  • FAB Chorus Pedal

Tolch, you think these things are hard to tweak when you're above 'em, you should've seen the situation I put myself in!
I had one daisy power point left and had to turn the chorus pedal so that it was facing me inputs first. Now, when a guitarist plays, he has it set so that it hits the spot with each stomp. Unfortunately, us experimental folks don't have it as easy. I have to "play" this pedal...sorta.

I have to push the inputs aside and hope that I don't unplug it while twiddlin'. Pain in the nuts.

A question about chorus pedals in general:
This thing modulates almost phaser-y. Do they all? In my old incarnation (ten years ago), I used a computer and plug ins. Chorus seemed different. However, lots of things have gone through my brain in the meantime, so it could just be my memory.

Chorus, phase and flange all seem to have their roots in rotating speaker simulation.....I've only had a couple of chorus pedals in my life, they both did a kind of phasery thing if you had 'em tweaked right.

Generally chorus doesn't get thick enough to sound like, say, an MXR Phase 90, but since those are fairly inexpensive I would just suggest getting one, or an Electro Harmonix Small Stone. On the other hand, chorus is great for rounding off harsh edges or "prettying" things up in an 80's sort of way. For experimental music? Crank that rate knob up high and listen to the birds chirp!

Yeah, this was getting nice 'n chirpy. I had it sandwiched between two beefy distortions in a feedback loop. It chirped and crunched.

I have a Digitech Hyper Phaser. I remember being more into phasers in my computer days. Maybe I just haven't found the right spot for it yet. I enjoyed it once along with an octaver on vocals.

I'm going to pick up a small stone after christmas. I was originally just going to sell all my pedals and get one of those multi-effects jobbies, but i'm too far in now.

Jeezus, don't do THAT, get a board set-up or something! I thought of you at my PS (Pedal Steel) gig last night, we were doing a spacey ballad and I had the Holy Grail set on "Hall". I hit a couple of big-ass swelled chords, looked at the guitar player and mouthed the words "Pink Floyd"! Not exactly who I was looking to emulate, but man! You just can't do that shit on 6-string!

Reverb's the best. I have a Rocktron Cyborg Reverb, and that thing goes for like a minute or more. So great.

No worries, Miller, I'm balls in! I'm either a serious guitarist, or a guy who relies on effects too much.

I downloaded a schematic for a clone of Lovetone's Ring Stinger. I need a ring mod and this thing looks to be a beast. It's pretty complex and my brother is pretty busy, so we never got around to starting it (though, he did source all the parts). Anyway, I saw the Way Huge Ringworm the other day and haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I ordered it today.

I haven't wailed in a while, so maybe this'll get me back in the saddle. Looks really fun.

Are there any upcoming backyard BBQ parties you can wail at?

haha Nah. Though, I was offered a spot at a gig a few weeks back. Someone bailed and they were short. Unfortunately, I had just gotten home from work (which is around the corner from the venue), didn't feel like driving back in, and wasn't prepared. I haven't played in a long time. I did, though, clean up my space a bit.

That's a pretty impressive collection of wailing accessories when they're all displayed fancy and neat like that.

Grandma's gonna be pissed. :D Looks like a cool pedal, though. I haven't bought anything in awhile. Got my silicon fuzz pedal that I built awhile back tweaked....it brings The Cramps, now. Which is a good thing.
