Been spending the last few days with Peter Criss's autobiography and I love it. He's funny and brutally honest. And while the ego is lovably out of control (count the number of times he calls himself famous) he's pretty tough on himself too.
Best part? The RUTHLESS takedowns of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Gene comes off as a greedy physically repulsive sex maniac but it is Stanley who fares worst. A narcissistic Machiavellian creep addicted to psych drugs and fad therapy with an ambivalent sexual identity - Stanley makes Simmons look bush league.
From 1973 to 1982, KISS reigned supreme. During that era, the band let loose ten studio albums, all under the Casablanca Records imprint, the only label the group had ever recorded for at that point. That right there, is real KISS. Anything post that time, any current iteration of the band that continues to make music and tour? We don't know them. But Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter were gods among men throughout the 70s into the very early 80s and the multiplatinum icons have just announced the release of The Casablanca Singles 1974-1982 box set, due out on December 3, 2012. This limited edition box set includes all 29 singles released on the legendary Casablanca label, and there are plenty of bonus add-ons included in this terrifyingly awesome set.
Stereoboard reports the following details of the set, to be issued via Universal in a few short weeks time. The Casablanca Singles 1974-1982 tracklisting, complete with special sleeves and masks, is as follows:
