  • New Oblivians Album - Desperation

I didn't realize this was actually happening but they have a new album, Desperation, coming out on In The Red on June 4th.

You can stream a track here. I guess they've gotten big enough in their 15 year absence that Rolling Stone now considers them newsworthy.

They're playing a free show in NYC on June 7th, and I'm gonna go. Cause that'll be rad.

The article notes that are more tour dates coming but they haven't been announced yet.

More info and track listing here.

First I've heard of this, really good news! I'll be getting this day one. I hope they get to someplace like Charlotte...

They are coming to my area in July but I will be out of town. Bummed. I've heard the new record and it's good stuff.

I've read some comments from longtime fans that aren't overly positive. I'm not a huge fan, but they were 'on' when I saw them play with The Gories a couple years back.

Import CDs has this coming out next week - May 28. I went ahead and pre-ordered it there, only 11 bucks.

Import CDs actually shipped my copy yesterday! Was listening to Popular Favorites in anticipation of the new one when I read the email...

I'm gonna spotify it next week once it's there (I'm assuming it will be) and then buy a press copy at the show.

                  This is my plan.

Not yet, should be any day this week though. Tomorrow would be nice!

My plan is to listen to it and drink beers...think big I say!

I've only heard I'll Be Gone, but it sounds good.
Looking forward to hearing the rest.

Finally got this (Import CDs has great pre-order prices, but if you were waiting on life saving medicine from them, your ass would be pushin' up daisies)...it's not bad but a lot of it sounds more like The Reigning Sound than Oblivians to me. IE: not as raw ass kicking dirty. That's how it strikes me after a couple run throughs anyway. It's not awful or anything but something is missing imo. Good to see Mr. Quintron is on a tune though.
