Too funny...I haven't seen that album cover in years. One of my good friends is a record collector and had picked this up as a joke for a ridiculously low price at a thrift store. We were partying at his house one night back in the 90s and this record made an appearance. We were listening to it and cracking up when somebody noticed that there was a Washington State phone number listed in the liner notes (the Emerson Bros. were from somewhere in Central Washington if I remember correctly). By this time it was about 2:00 am and we were plastered and somebody got the bright idea to call the number since we lived close by in Spokane. So, the phone rings and somebody actually answered! Turns out it was the boys' dad and he was only too happy to have a conversation with fans even though we got him out of bed in the middle of the night. He ended up having a good 15 minute conversation, updating us on the status of Donnie and Joe's career, etc. It was a totally surreal experience.

Thanks for this. I've been listening to it for the past few days. Totally bought the cd reissue. It's got a similar vibe to the John Travolta stuff.

Very cool story! I bet a lot of people picked up this album for the kitschy cover expecting nothing more than a laugh or two, and was surprised of how of good it turned out to be. The Emerson dad should get the daddy of the year-award EVERY year since he really went way, way out of the ordinary to support his sons passion for music (and perhaps turn it into a career). The glorious dreamer/fool built a 100000$ studio on his farm out in the middle of nowhere, where the boys jammed and recorded the Dreamin' Wild-album. Since he was not a rich man and the album went nowhere, he ended up losing almost all of his land in process. Which probably makes this on of the most expensive DIY album ever made. What a guy! I say it was woth it though, Dreamin' Wild is a teen masterpiece!

BTW, here's an interesting mini-doc, "The Rock 'N' Roll Farmers": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbK8QOgr7_8
