      • Teenage Fanclub - Endless Arcade

I kinda forgot about this band. I liked some of their early stuff, this new album might be too mellow. Will give it some time to sink in.

This album makes me think of mid eighties ZZ Top.

I hear that, some Steve Earle influences, a bit of Eagles and even more. My daughter despises 99.99% of country, and she has become a fan of Sturgill after hearing the first half of the album and a few other songs, and reading some interviews. The guy is a genius.

                      • It's a great album! All of Sturgill's music is pretty damn good.

I'd also recommend similar alt-country / Americana acts like: Ryan Bingham, Charley Crockett, Vincent Neil Emerson, Jason Isbell, Colter Wall and Chris Stapleton. For heavier sounds I'd recommend: Blackberry Smoke, Whiskey Myers, Hayes Carll. Sturgill falls somewhere in the middle, IMO.

Martin Scorsese has cast Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell in bit parts in his upcoming movie KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON.

                          • I'll second Chris Stapleton and throw Sarah Shook And The Disarmers into the mix.

And if you're in the mood for something along the same lines but mellower and prettier, Margo Price's stuff might work for you.
