The goofy costume-wearing McRackins did a cool cover of Surfin' On Heroin. They looked ridiculous (two eggs and a chicken or dog), but they had a terrific pop sensibility. I can still sing their songs at the drop of a hat.

Sounds like a cool project, I have to admit I've only heard of about 4 or 5 of those bands.
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

Ha, I'd forgotten about the McRackins. Didn't realize they'd covered The Rebels prior.

The second volume is up on Spotify now. Both are worth checking out.

Ironically though, Canadians can't have Spotify. But savvy Americans should give this a shot. The cover of Don't Hide Your Face by James O'Brien is really, really cool.

I really like the original version. Probably one of my favourites.

Me too. O'Brien's version is done in this really low key style, as a very sort of sad but sweet ballad. Not punked out at all. It's a different take on it but a really good one. There's some cool stuff on these collections. A few tracks that I didnt' like but overall they're fun.
