Was literally just out record shopping with the kids this afternoon talking about how rad Motorhead and Lemmy were. We got home, five minutes later, find out he's dead. So weird.

Eddie Trunk sent out the news on twitter a few minutes ago that Lemmy has passed away at 70 years of age.

RIP to a true fucking legend.

Yep, even though Mikki Dee is great, he hasn't got the same frenetic energy Phil did.

    RIP, Phil.

Was blasting Overkill last night in his honor. You know, despite Ace Of Spades being one hell of an impressive beast, I do think Overkill is my favorite album of the Fast Eddie years - my all time fav is Another Perfect Day. The title song for Overkill just slays with that insane drumming. And "No Class" is so simple yet pert near unfucking beatable. The whole album is just so solid from start to finish - lesser known lights like "Limb From Limb" are just as smoking as the well known cuts. The Sanctuary reissues are how it's done too - Overkill has a second disc of B-sides, Peel Sessions and concert stuff. Great booklet with lots of pictures and Malcolm Dome essay as well. Gonna blast a lot of the golden era 'Head this weekend...

Motorhead was never the same once Fast Eddie and Philthy Phil left. Phil's style and drum fills often sound like drums were falling down a flight of stairs, the rhythms came off like a train about the fly off the tracks while bouncing side to side. That sloppiness, intentional or not, made Motorhead much more than just another metal or rock'n'roll band. I had hoped that the original trio would play some shows one more time before Lemmy or one of the others died, but I guess it was not to be.

Sad news. He may not have been the most technically proficient drummer the band has had but to me he was and will always be THE Motorhead drummer. He also looked the part in, er, spades. RIP.

They do but they keep it in the back. You have to ask someone at the counter to get it for you.

Upfront it's nothin' but condoms and dildos.
