Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are my all-time favorite band. The only group I've ever flown cross-country just to see. (Saw them in Dallas on Lollapalooza in 94, in New Orleans on their greatest hits tour in 98, and an acoustic show at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco in 2001). So even though I basically never keep up with "new" music -- this is one album I'm REALLY looking forward to.

While I dug the two Grinderman albums enough, I'm looking forward to this too. They haven't been as good since Blixa left, but I'm always willing to give Cave's new stuff a chance. They're one of my favorite bands of all time.

                True.

Of all the items I've lost over the years through moves, thieving roommates and whatnot, none upsets me more than no longer having the copy of Blixa's book that I got him to autograph back in 98. I had both that and a Cave autographed copy of King Ink and they're both long gone.

Yeah, that would piss me off too.

I saw them in Portland on what would turn out to be Blixa's last tour and they were great. Haven't seen them play but I'd imagine the live show, while still awesome (Cave's dance moves rule!), wouldn't be quite as intense.

I have a great bootleg DVD-R of a Bad Seeds show from Ohio in, I think, 1984 that has an interview with Nick and Blixa tacked on from after the show where they've both got giant goth hair and black sunglasses and appear to be strung out on smack. It's pretty great.

I saw the Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! tour and they could still raise a good ruckus without Blixa, but yeah, it wasn't quite the same as when he was in the fold. I was initially pretty underwhelmed by most of the post Blixa albums, but over time they have grown on me quite a bit. Now I just wish Blixa would get more productive again. There was a massive burst of Neubauten activity after he left the Bad Seeds, but the last album of new EN material was in 2007 and since then his only musical output has been his ANBB project back in 2010 and vocals on two songs on the X-TG Desertshore album.
