  • FEAR to re-record The Record?

So says Lee Ving in an interview with AP here:

    http://www.altpress.com/features/ent...ttle_christmas

"What's the situation with Fear re-recording [1982's] The Record? What's the lineup? And why do it?

The situation is successful and complete. Lineup is: yours truly, LeeVing (vocals and guitar), Andrew Jaimez (drums and concussion), Paul Lerma (bass), Dave Stark (guitar), Derol Caraco (guitar).

Why? Because we could, of course. But actually because, in addition to many others, these are songs we always play. And so finally this FEAR The ReRecord has the songs recorded and performed in the way that I heard them being presented when I was writing them."

I guess the good news is that they're touring in 2012.

      Sad news

I would rather hear a new album honestly and I'm sure I'm not alone, even if it might suck.

I'm completely with you on that. I'd far, far, far rather hear some new music than the rehashing of old stuff.

That said, if they come to NYC I'll still go see them play.

They're still good live - saw 'em years ago here w/ UK Subs, Beerzone and Running Riot. Now THAT'S a show.
It's not going to suck itself...

It is a dumb idea - but everybody is doing it anyway. And its not like the original is going away. Still, FEAR really shouldn't be ripping off SUICIDAL TENDENCIE's worst idea. Totally see them live though!

I was just picturing those re-recorded harmonies on I Saw Your Mommy....egads.

Gang of Four, TSOL and Agent Orange have also rerecorded a bunch of their old shit.

Semi-OT, but Modern English rerecorded I Melt With You a while back (it's not as good).

Twisted Sister re-recorded Stay Hungry as Still Hungry.

That actually turned out okay, as did Manowar's re-recording of Battle Hymns.

I thought Manowar just remastered the album rather than re-recorded it (apart from supplanting Orson with Christopher Lee)?

Nope. They're new recordinds and are "louder and stronger" than the originals. Some run a bit longer too.
