Universal, why hast thou forsaken me? I picked up the new blu-ray of NIRVANA: LIVE AT THE PARAMOUNT on Blu-Ray. I had heard that it didn't include the music videos that the DVD version does, but hell, a stereo PCM track, 5.1 PCM and DTS HD MA 5.1? Sign me up! The concert was shot on film, and looks great. The sound is fantastic.
Just not TOGETHER.
The video lags almost a full second behind the audio track...all of the audio tracks. No problem, I figure, I'll make the best out of what i have and set the "Lip synch" feature on my receiver to compensate. No dice. Because the lag is NOT CONSISTENT.
This audio issue is apparent after the first few seconds of the start of the concert. How did this get by QC? Also, it apparently isn't an issue on the DVD, but if you want the higher resolution, you have to suck it up. Conveniently, it's very difficult to find contact info for anyone at Universal, and unfortunately, most of the complaints about the audio synch are not formal reviews, just comments left here and there on the web. With all of the promotion going on around Nirvana's Nevermind album, being the 20th Anniversary, I'm shocked that a company as big as Universal Music could drop the ball on this.
Thanks for nothing.
