  • Dee Dee King - Standing In The Spotlight

Has anyone else heard this obscure Dee Dee Ramone hip-hop album?

HOLY FUCK. THIS IS SO AMAZINGLY HORRIBLY AWESOMELY AWFUL.

    Ten tracks:

    1.Mashed Potato Time 3.15
    2 Much 2 Drink 3.32
    3.Baby Doll 4.41
    4.Poor Little Rich Girl 2.31
    5.Commotion In The Ocean 3.23
    6.German Kid 4.05
    7.Brooklyn Babe 3.27
    8.Emergency 3.23
    9.The Crusher 3.29
    10.I Wan't What Want When I Want It 2.21

Mashed Potato Time is the dopest illest rhyme ever committed to whatever this was recorded on. Tape I'd guess.

Standing In The Spotlight came out in 1989, but this track came out in 1988 and it's just as good as the mashed potatoe rap song.

Maybe he's got two rap albums? I need to find a recording of Funky Man.

Holy shit, I can't stop listening to this.

I wanted to love this, but it's fuggin shite. Dee Dee just put out the Funky Man single and this album before he realized he sucked at it. I blame the knuckleheads he went to rehab with for egging him on.

Yeah, everything sounds like a great idea when you're in rehab. haha. I remember seeing the Funky Man 12" and the Rodney Raps 12" (Rodney Dangerfield) at a grocery store years ago. They had all kinds of discontinued shit. I got the Alice Cooper Show on vinyl, but passed those 2 up.

Dee Dee. Great bass player and icon. Not a rapper.

This thing goes for big bucks on Amazon and eBay. I guess there's a market for anything.

I bet Busterface would like this.

Yeah me too. It's one of those things I'm gonna find in a thrift shop for $0.50 sooner or later though.

That would be one that you would frame in a record frame and display.

It also came out on CD. I would frame that too. I'm not picky.
