Oh, damn. Awful news. I knew he wasn't in great health but I didn't expect this. One of the greatest drummers of all time, he knew to keep it simple, yet did amazing things. RIP.

Sad, he seemed like a decent guy. Who'd have thought that the quiet one would go before Keith? He was my mum's favourite Stone.
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

Not really a Stones fan outside of 2 albums that I think are phenomenal and a handful of great singles, but he always seemed like a pretty cool guy. RIP

Which 2 albums, Mark? I'm a huge fan of all the Brian Jones era albums and singles (some not on albums), particularly Aftermath. And I think the run of Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile...is quite possibly the greatest 4 album run in rock history. All masterpieces. I also like Some Girls a lot.

Let It Bleed is not only a great Stones album, it's one of my favourite albums, period. Beggar's Banquet was the other one. I'm one of the weirdos that's lukewarm on EXILE.

I do really like a lot of the early singles with Jones on them.

"Factory Girl" on Beggar's is one of my all-timers. "No Expectations" is badass too, that slide guitar...I probably like Sticky Fingers more than Exile, there's a bunch of great songs on it but I think Sticky is tighter and "Dead Flowers" is another immortal for me. Mick Taylor upped their game by a huge margin.

Of the Brian Jones albums, Aftermath was the first one with all original songs. I also really dig Between The Buttons, I think "Connection" is one of the great lost Stones songs.

Ironic that the least wild member of the Stones is the first to go, aside from Brian.

Right there with you on all of this, and Dead Flowers is probably my all time favorite. Plus it was damn nice of them to put 'Walk Before I Run' on Some Girls, so The Supersuckers and Steve Earle could do their fantastic cover.
