I recently picked up the Sony Masterworks Heritage series reissues of the original studio recordings of Beethoven's two cycles of string quartets by the Budapest String Quartet on the cheap & in used but like new condition on Amazon. I recall when Tower Records were shutting down their brick and mortar stores, I just happened to luck upon the last remaining OOP copy in the classical section but I got greedy and decided to hold off one more day anticipating a further discount. Alas, much to my chagrin someone snatched it up when I returned the next day. I even hid it in another section but that was a futile gesture. Took nearly a decade but finally managed to secure these! Sony eventually released these quartets in a box set but I wanted the individual CD digipaks. Superb performances and the packaging is first rate -- the CDs are designed to look like the original 78s with the dark blue Columbia labels and the cover art is a facsimile of the original 78s as well.
