  • RIP Richard Matheson

When it rains it pours. Not a lot of happy news this morning.

"Richard Matheson, whose novels, short stories, screenplays and teleplays drew the blueprints for dozens of science fiction and horror movies and television shows, died on Sunday at his home in Calabasas, Calif. He was 87".

I love I Am Legend and Hell House. I thought he had died already, but at least it isn't a life cut short by tragedy.

Simply amazing, the number of iconic tales he penned. I really loved Hell House too, Todd. That book scared me quite a bit back when I read it, and while I liked the film okay it didn't come close to being as creepy as the novel. RIP.

I hope there's not a third loss coming....

Ian, I kept looking at the date on your post but it says 2014. Matheson passed away on June 23, 2013. Actually, the 2013 date is even in the link.

Made me do a double take as I was certain he had passed ( I watched NIGHT OF THE EAGLE and listened to his commentary track shortly after the fact ).

I'm going to assume his ghost fucked with my news feed yesterday and go with it.
