    FOOM, the Marvel fanzine, had an art contest in its second issue in 1973.

    The runner up was a guy named Andy Olsen, whose entry was Wolverine. A Guy without claws but iwth a metal skeleton.

    Six months later, the Wolverine we all know appeared for the first time in The Incredible Hulk.

    The similarities are not that striking as you can see...

    ...but it's still interesting, made even more so by the fact that Bleeding Cool found the guy and interviewed him here.

    Since this came out, what used to be a $5 book is now going for over $200.

    When Len Wein created Wolverine he didn't have a metal skeleton.

      Yeah, like I said, the similarities aren't particularly damning, but it's an interesting footnote in Marvel history.

            The cover is easily worth at least 3 or 4 dollars.
