It's a surprisingly active genre from what I've heard.

Are any of these books worth reading? I love this kind of weird shit but I can't stand bad writing.

Pretty sure you are going to be out of luck with these things then!!

TWILIGHT was badly enough written...and I heard those 50 SHADES OF GREY type books are also pretty badly written....what hope is there for MONSTER PORN being well written????

Well there's plenty of good films with monster sex (Coppola's Dracula, The Evil Dead, The Entity, Feast, Gakidama, Splice just to name few) and you need just one talented person to write a good book. I expect at least 99% of them to be shit, but if there's just one good author among them that's enough for me. Sure I'm not hoping for level of Gombrowicz/Gogol/Hesse or any other genius writers, Masterton kind of silly and fun to read stories are fine with me.

Looks like we need somebody to write first literary monster porn novel. Umberto, do you hear me?

You know this is damned funny but at the same time it's striking at something that's actually pretty serious- even more so when it comes to movies than books.

I've always been looking forward to the day when we did away with physical media. I figured it would be a great leveller for content creators. It's hard to get your book into a bookshop when there's limited space and 200 different editiions of Harry Potter And The Vibrating Brrroomstick to compete against. But online we should all equal. Sure Harry Potter might still get a listing on the front page but we'd all be there for download with a quick search.

That's not whats happening. For these women Amazon is the only digital way for them to monetise their work (actually iTunes must be another route but I don't know what their policies are) so getting banned is pretty much censorship. I hate when people use the word censorship for commercial censorship but that's kind of what this equates to. On what basis does Amazon make this decision: "It's pretty much you'd expect" is not an answer.

Now for movies we currently have 3 solid outlets for digital downloads that people actually use en masse. iTunes, Netfilix and Amazon. Far from being a digital creator utopia this is a nightmare. They are incredibly selective with what they choose. Don't have a star, they don't want to know you. It's expensive to apply to any of them and difficult. So much so that there are now businesses who sole job is to package your film so that's got it's best chance at iTunes.

In the future you're not going to be worried about the BBFC banning films (at least they are in a minor way accountable). It's going to be when films get rejected by Amazon that you'll be rallying against because the options will just be so narrow. And they are free to build a monopoly and then ban and remove whatever they want for whatever reason they choose. Anyway without getting to bleak I'd say Cum For Bigfoot is just the canary in the coal mine.

I agree, Dom, it is censorship. The gatekeepers control the content, and that ain't right. I might be wrong but I think iTunes is even stricter regarding content. Thing is they can never know the content of everything they have. You can still get copies of EMANUELLE IN AMERICA there (through third party sellers but Amazon still profits). Such a slippery slope. No pun intended.

                    Re: Monster Porn

Oh, so this is where I saw the Bigfoot porn thing! I thought it was on Twitter or something. Embarrassed, but not as badly as if Amazon was rifling my sock drawer.

The big foot of Amazon is a real problem but dominant as they are, they're not the only game on the internet, or off it. Porn (and Star Trek) built this internet, and you gotta have faith that it'll keep it strong. There will always be sticky floors somewhere.

For sure there's lots of places on the internet at the moment where you can publish your Big Foot smut (as we all do) but at the moment Amazon and iTunes are the only places where you can really monetise your dubious hobby and literary talents. I only see this getting tighter. With movies at the moment there's but 3 players from whom content creators can generate decent sales. I reckon minimum one of those is going to get the chop. If 2 disappear then you really have a problem. Actually, fuck it, we've already really got a problem with 3.
