  • Read the first 3 issues in the Blue Beetle Graduation Day TPB. Not bad. I am not the happiest with the color. Has that cheap computer look to it. But the rest of the art is decent.

Only drawback so far is some of the dialogue is in Spanish. And the only Spanish I know I learned watching hours of Lucha Libre on Galavision. So was google translating some word balloons.

          • Just finished Boy Maximortal vol 2.

Another 60 pages of the story from Veitch. Carries the story forward and had me going and ordering vol 3 once I finished.

The back matter is decent, got one story Veitch made for the Warren mags that got turned down and getting it's first printing here. Plus a series of 15 or so sketches of Sharon Tate.

I went to Desert Island Comics in Brooklyn on Sunday and asked if they had it, but it was sold out!

Hey good news but bad news! Hopefully they'll restock it.

                • Grabbed The Last Ronin and The Last Ronin Lost Years Hardcovers this month.

Then sat down one night planning on having a small dinner and reading an issue out of the first. 2 hours later I finished it and realized 2 hours had passed.

                  SPOILERS

Damn first off choosing Michaelangelo to be the surviving Turtle was perfect. Like how even though this feels to be set in the Mirage comic continuity there is one small thing that kind of tells you it isn't. More than worth the 15 bucks you cna find this for online.

Lost Years is a prequel and sequel to Last Ronin. Telling what Mikey got up to after his brothers passed. Adn what Casey Marie Jones is doing as the sensai of the new 4 turtles. As good as Last Ronin.

Pretty much as long as the quality stays this level I will grab each storyline as it hits hardcover.

                  • Also worked my way thru a stack of Moonstone The Phantom comics. Years back got issues 1,2,3,16-26. So just missing the annual and issues 4 thru 15.

Decent stories in wwhat I got combined with good art.Not sure if I would have paid cover price but at a buck an issue made for some decent reading.

Was any of the Moonstone Kolchek stuff worth reading?

                    • Got in Boy Maximortal issue 3 Friday. Read it today and about to go order issue 4. Sure there is a collection of all 4 issues out now. But the issues have back matter that isn't in the collection.

Not really sure where Veitch is going with this chapter of King Hell. But been on this ride since when did Brat Pack #1 hit?90 91? And just glad that he is finally getting a chance to finish the rest of the chapters.

                      • Got in and read Boy Maximortal issue 4 today. Wow not gonna spoil it and it was worth the 20+ year wait. Bonus in the issue it has the 2 maximortal/brat pack super special issues, that are hard to find it seems, reprinted.

So 10 bucks get 50 pages of the Boy maximortal story then those two issues. Worth it.

Seems Chapter 3 of King Hell is starting next year. Then once that finishes we get part 3 of chapter 5.

                        • I'm way behind on that stuff but will get caught up some day. I need 1 more issue of the original Brat Pack run to complete it, and will then move on to the follow ups.

                          • Lately I've been reading random issues of Weird War Tales that I've been picking up cheap over the last few months and this series is a lot of fun. Wildly uneven in terms or art and story quality but even the bad ones are still enjoyable enough.

I'm curious to see what James Gunn and company do with the Creature Commandos cartoon next year.

I know the ending in the issues and the ending in the TPB of BRat Pack are different. Can't remember what the differences are. Haven't read the issues in close to 20 years. I never see issues of that in back issues bins. Did pull almosst the full run of Maximortal out of dollar bins over a few year spread.

On the Rick Veitch gimmick, read the first 20 pages or so of the Teknophage VOL 1 TPB today. Before this I had never read much of any of the Neil Gaiman stuff from Tekno. Saw this TPB and vol 2 were cheap and got Rick Veitch writing some of the issues.

Art is nice. Story feels a bit like being dropped into chapter 5 of the Annual X-titles Crossover from the 90s. I caught my attention enough that instead of sleeping like I should be doing,i'm about to go sit in the kitchen have a late night snack and read more of it.

Read the Ghost World TPB,got this at a toy show out of a dollar bin last year. Read this years back. And forgot how fast a read it really is. Had about 40 minutes to kill. Started reading the TPB and finished it with still 20 minutes left to kill. Re-reading it made me notice how the film sticks in my memory way more than the comic. Betting it is because I have seen that film who knows how many times. But this comic I have read maybe 5 times tops.
