Years ago I picked up a run of WCA for a quarter a book. They're still tucked away in the closet of doom somewhere, but I don't think those Byrne issues are back there.

The Byrne run is pretty good. Just sucks he left in the middle of a storyline.

I read WCA from the mini series until about a year after Byrne left. Was my favorite team book from Marvel in that era. But that was mostly cause of who was on the team. Wonder Man,Tigra,Hawkeye and oddities like Hank PYm,when he ran around in a jumpsuit covered in pockets.

People bitch about the early artwork (Milgrom), but I really thought at times it was as good as the original Avengers. (Now that title really went down the drain after the conclusion of the Heavy Metal arc). As you stated, AWC went downhill shortly after Byrne left.

By the time WCA started I had given up on the Avengers for a few years.

WCA to me had the feel that the last half of the original Defenders run had. In that it wasn't dead serious, had funny moments and you never knew what was gonna happen.

I grabbed a few more recent issues of Batman out of the cheapie bin yesterday. Nothing amazing, but I did get issue #21 without realizing until I read it that it was a Watchmen tie-in.

Grabbed a few decent $1 books today.

                Swamp Thing #110
                Walking Dead - Negan Lives
                Conan Age Of Belit #1
Murder Falcon 1, 2 (heavy metal variant covers)
Mister Miracle #10 (you can't leave bronze age Kirby in the $1 bin!)
Brave And The Bold #110 (Batman and Swamp Thing, Aparo art)
Books Of Magic #1 (the original ongoing series)
                Black Racer #1 (more Kirby)
Twilight Children #1 (I figure Gilbert Hernandez and Darwyn Cooke probably make this worthwhile)
                Manhunter #3 (Sam Keith art)
                DC Sampler #2

If I could find the TWD trades that cheap I would still buy them. I have taken to just grabbing the TWD Compendiums, they are what 48 or so issues a vol. Run between 39 and 50.

Man Ian hits shops with way better bargin bins than I do. The one in town is mostly 90s glut stuff, then the odd good to pretty good 80s indie title. The other 2 I hit I don't get to hit but maybe 5 times a year so the bins are usually picked thru.

Not exactly bargn bin,but did just get in 4 early issues of video watchdog ,in decent shape, shipped for 12 bucks. 17,20,23 and 24 IIRC.Been slowly pieceing together a full run of VW.

                    • I've got 13 Walking Dead tpbs coming in that I paid in the range of $1.60 to $3.25 for. (That is if they ever get delivered). Also a TWD Compendium 4 that is a scratch and dent is in the USPS system as well.

I've got stuff from the Severin sale and a Diabolik order that probably won't get here before New Year's, if then. Not sure if things will get better USPS wise until after New Years.

I had a package back in June sit in Memphis for 21 days. It was shipped priority. But then UPS is not that great right now. Have a package that close to 2 weeks ago got to Jackson MS. Then for some reason they shipped it to Morrow GA. The package is back in Jackson. I figure I might get it by late January.
