A new comic shop opened up in Brooklyn last weekend, so we went to check it out this afternoon - and they've got lots of dollar bins! I actually wound up putting a lot of stuff back as I didn't want to spend too much money, but still walked out with a pretty decent haul.

Marvel Chillers #3 - 2nd Tigra, Wrightson and Chaykin cover art.

Silver Star #1 - because I'm now obsessed with the Pacific Kirby books for some reason.

Korak Son Of Tarzan #47 - Frank Thorne main story, Mike Kaluta back up story, Joe Kubert cover.

Star Reach Vol. 1 #12 - cause I always grab'em when they're cheap, you never know who will pop up.

      Amra Sword & Sorcery Vol. 2 #69 - weird old Conan/Robert E. Howard fanzine.

      Silver Surfer 2, 4, 5 - the Pak/Tolibao series, completed the run.

Mayhem #2 - weird indie 70's book with a pretty boss Neal Adams cover on it.

Judge Dredd #27 - the later Eagle issues seem to be tough to find. Great Bolland cover.

Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash #1 - why not.

Silver Surfer: Requiem #1, 2, 3 - was hoping to find #4 as well and complete the run but no dice.

      Adventure Into Fear #19 - because Man-Thing!

Weird Worlds #9 - Chaykin Iron Wolf story.

      The Omega Man #10 - early Lobo, worth a $1 I figure.

Alien Fire #1 - Weird cover, I'll buy most Kitchen Sink stuff if it's cheap.

Alien Encounters #1 - Rad Joe Chiodo cover.

Starslayer #3, 4, 5, 6 - Great Mike Grell art and some cool backup stories (Groo, Rocketeer)

Crime Suspenstories #6/Weird Fantasy #6, #7/Haunt Of Fear #2 - EC reprints are rad for $1.00 a piece.

Swamp Thing Vol. 1 #3 - It's not in good shape at all but I'm not gonna live an original Wrightson issue in a dollar bin.

      Swamp Thing Vol. 2 #39, #100, #129, #140 - #39 is a Moore/Bissette issue so that's a score, the others I just bought because I love Swamp Thing and like to read'em.

Creepy Things #5 - I have a soft spot for Charlton horror titles and this one was cheap with a great cover and a Ditko story inside.

Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth - I didn't know this exited... "the official adaptation of the HIT HORROR SEQUEL!" haha. I wonder if it's better than the movie?

I love the old Pacific line - did they have this one? (w/a sweet Barry Windsor-Smith cover)

I have that one! Bought it for the BWS art and the Jones art. I think I pulled it out of a $0.25 bin in the nineties.

It's funny, when I do go to comic shops I can never find horror comics. Nothing like weird, indie label, black and white shit. Never find it. Porno comics. Sure. But never horror comics. None of the Creepy or Eerie shit either.

Back from the LCS again, this time with...

Joe Kubert School 1st Folio - cause why not. Neat PC book you don't see too often.

Thrillogy #1 - Another PC book, with awesome art by Tim A. Conrad.

Skate Man #1 - Yep, more PC, this time with Neal Adams' art and a story about a roller skating super hero? $1 well spent. I hope.

Savage Sword Of Conan #3 - the recent Marvel series. Found a few other issues and enjoyed them, so I grabbed this one too.

Codename: Danger #1, 3, 4 - Buckler and Gulacy artwork. No idea if the stories are any good. I suspect they might not be, but... Gulacy.

Midnight Of The Soul #1-4 - Chaykin doing his thing for Image. I thought this was a 4 issue series, came home and found out it was 5. Oops.

Midnight Men #1-2 - Chaykin doing his thing for Epic. Got 2 of the 4 issues.

Airships Of Atlantis Dicover... MU The Land That Never Was - Weird 70's underground book.

The Fly #2 - Steranko cover. Buckler art inside. Ditko art inside too. Every issue of this Red Circle series has great artists involved. They used to be $0.25 everywhere you'd go, now they're starting to get harder to find and pricier too.

The Doom Patrol #96 - Rough shape but Silver Age Doom Patrol for $1 is a no-brainer.

The Gargoyle #1 - Rad Berni Wrightson cover.

                Glitterbomb #1 - I figured I'd give Zub's mature readers book a shot.

Brightest Day Aftermath: The Search For The Swamp Thing #1-2 - this might suck but I'm a sucker for Swamp Thing and Constantine.

Machine Man #3-4 - I used to have all 4 back in the day. Would like to get the first two issues because the Barry Windsor Smith are in this mini-series is amazing.

Fightin' Army #117 - cause it's high grade and I waste money on Charlton comics sometimes. Pat Boyette art inside.

The Shield #1 - Another Red Circle title. Good art on the lead by Alan Weiss but it's the backup story with art by Adrian Gonzales and Rudy Nebres that sold it.

I love this thread. Ian you appear to grab the same type of stuff I do out of cheap bins. Once the LCS reopens, been hearing it is early Sept. I will go and see what I find.

Their cheap bins lean more towards 85 thru 2000 era stuff. But have found ,all for a buck or less, Fat Freddys Cat #4 and Miracleman 23,wait is 23 the last issue of the Eclipse run? I found the last issue of the Eclipse run.

Plus a few 1st prints of some original run of The Tick.

Ha, I wind up digging through a lot of modern day superhero stuff to find the stuff I'm interested in, which lately has been all pre-2000 stuff, with a few exceptions (some Silver Surfer, some Conan and occasionally books people I know worked on).

I got for a mix between 70s thru 90s indie stuff. Then various 70s non capeshit stuff from the Big Two.

And while not out of a bargin bin, I got in the mail today the issue of the Mirage TMNT VOL 1 that was in color and drawn by Richard Corben. Found out Mirage's website is still selling copies of lots of their titles. Wanted to get the Corben stuff and The River 3 issue run by Veitch. But the Veitch stuff is sold out. THink it was 5 or 6 bucks for the Corben issue.

That's #33, right? It's the only TMNT issue I own a physical copy of. I like the early Eastman/Laird stuff quite a bit but have it all digitally at this point, but for Corben, you've gotta go hard copy.

Interestingly enough, last week my old roommate from Portland sent me 2 boxes of comics that he was supposed to send like 12-13 years ago (better late than never, right) and there were some nice Corben pieces in there including the PC Comics Corben Special, the two Vic & Blood issues, a Tales From The Plague graphic novel and the Tales Of The Black Diamond graphic novel.

It also had my 1st edition Creepshow comic signed by Wrightson in it and a ton of other old stuff I'm very glad to have back even if I don't really have space.

                          Yea that is #33.

I had read vol 1 of the Mirage TMNT run off and on from issue 4 until it ended. But never got every issue. Few years back found a torrent of all of vol 1,2 and 4. Sat down and over about 9 weeks read all of it and loved most of it.

But yea like you with Corben I want a hard copy. I got that PC comics Corben special. Need the rest you mentioned. Looked and most what I need isnt that expensive. Might just grab say 1 issue every few weeks.

Yeah it's weird in regards to his stuff, some of it gets crazy expensive, which makes sense because a lot of the early stuff and indie stuff he did has low print runs, but then it isn't impossible to find them cheap if you dig for them. It's like a lot of comic stores just don't really know what to do with his stuff.

See in this area I got 3 comics shops in driving distance.

One in town has 15 longboxs that are the bargin bins. But it is mostly 90s glut stuff.

The two shops up in/near Jackson have nice bargin bins. But they know their indie comics so aint gonna find Corben stuff for cheap.

It sucks I got spoiled. On the coast I had 8 shops in driving distance. And out in TX had the best shop ever 5 blocks from the house.

And I feel ya on the not enough space thing. I am down to 93 longboxes and maybe 11 shortboxes of comics. That doesn't include the stacks and shelfs full of trades, hardcovers and OGNS.

But even then with lack of space if I find some good stuff in a cheap bin I'm grabbing it.

93 long boxes is still a lot! At my peak, I had just over 100, but that was when I lived in an area with cheap rent and could afford an apartment with an extra room to serve as the comic room.

Picked up some new stuff yesterday...

                                Jack The Lantern (Vigil cover)

Midnight Of The Soul #5 (finished the run)

Midnight Men #3 and 4 (finished the run)

Sable #23 and 25 (Vigil covers)

The Fly #3 and 5 (the Red Circle series, trying to complete the run, Ditko art in each issue)

Captain Victory #2 (Kirby art, again trying to put a run together)

Shado: Song Of The Dragon #2 and 3 (I dig Grell's Green Arrow stuff and this ties into it - I used to have all 4 back in the day)

Angel And The Ape #1 (the Vertigo series, Chaykin script, Art Adams cover)

Savage Sword Of Conan #6 (the recent Marvel series)

Batman Jekyll & Hyde #1-6 (Jenkins script, Jae Lee art, I figured for $1 a piece, why not get the run)

These last two were $2.50 each:

Frank Frazetta's Dark Kingdom #1 (Vigil art)

Frank Frazetta's Neanderthals One Shot (Vigil art, Frazetta cover)
