Is Santo Vs. Dr. Death one of the better entries? The Vinegar Syndrome post hyped up the Spanish co-production angle with Helga Line and Mitra Miller. It does sound more compelling than most Santo films.
I'm guessing the reason it was singled out for release is because it was apparently one of only four Santo features dubbed in English at the time it was made (and the only one of those in color)? If that information -- which I pulled from The Mexican Masked Wrestler and Monster Filmography -- is accurate, then that alone would make it pretty unique. Beyond that, the capsule review there goes on to say that even though it's not an especially high-profile title, it's not bad/somewhat good. For me, that was enough reason to buy whereas VCI's contemporary dubs and lack of original Spanish w/subs was a full-on deal breaker.
I'm more than likely gonna buy this. Feel in love with the Santo films back in 91 when I saw the Jon Ross ISFS episode on them. Managed to get some of them on dvd. But they are in Spanish, and yea my Spanish is barely above Peggy Hill level.
Ok, hear me out, but I would LOVE to have all Mexican movies have the original Spanish audio and Peggy Hill-translation subtitles. That would be the GREATEST.
