Holy shit, DEATH WARMED UP isn't anything like what I figured it was! Unless the transfer gets terrible reviews, I'll be buying. Looks like gory fun, dude.

And given that Severin's Next Of Kin disc was basically a port of the Umbrella with one new extra on it, it's likely a safe assumption that this release will follow suit.

                  Press release from Severin.

THE ORIGINAL NEW ZEALAND GENRE EPIC REMASTERED FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

On April 16th, Severin Films is swinging open the doors of the insane asylum and releasing killer Kiwi classic DEATH WARMED UP from the standard definition prison it's been trapped inside for decades. This masterpiece, described by gonzo visionary Alejandro Jodorowsky as “an apocalypse of slaughter”, has been remastered by director David Blyth himself from the only existing elements and comes loaded with exclusive new Special Features.

Three years before Peter Jackson's BAD TASTE, a young New Zealand filmmaker sprayed international movie screens with brains, blood and bizarre body fluids for the first splatter movie in Kiwi history: Director David Blyth (WOUND, GHOST BRIDE) launched his genre career with this relentlessly graphic - and still-intense - story of mad doctors, nude teens, psychotic mutants, shotgun murders, power drill lobotomies, explosive action and punk attitude that AXS.com calls “weird, wonky and one hell of a ride that will have gorehounds howling!” Michael Hurst (HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS), Bruno Lawrence (THE QUIET EARTH) and Ian Watkin (DEAD ALIVE) star in this landmark gore thriller from “New Zealand's master of transgression” (Fangoria).

The Severin webstore is also offering bundles with exclusive merch, including limited edition slipcover, art print, sticker, t-shirt, and even a squeezable brain-shaped stress ball!

Awesome. Really glad to hear that the main remastered version has all of the gore and violence intact.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

Looks like the Severin DVD release of the movie is movie only, no extra features.

I watched the movie last night & found it to be quite nuts. It's not as gory as I thought it would be but there's so much more like weird weapons, crazy characters, interesting lighting & location, a plot that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The difference in quality in various scenes didn't bother me at all. Definitely worth owning.
