I wish a label, any label, would release some of Philip Brophy's earlier stuff on dvd or blu-ray, stuff which is only out on way-too-rare VHS.

I've only seen Body Melt but liked it enough that I'd be keen on checking out more of his work for sure.

Too short for a DVD release. If IMDB is correct, SALT is only 47 minutes long while his other film NO DANCE is 22 minutes. Would be perfect as extras for a BODY MELT DVD.

I remember BODY MELT coming out over here. As I recall, the BBFC left it intact, which made quite the splash. I rented the film on VHS and had high hopes for it, but found it quite disappointing at the time. I've not seen it since, and that was well over 20 years ago, I guess. I wouldn't mind watching it again with more reasonable expectations.

I remember seeing SALT, SALIVA... at a theatre in Melbourne a long time ago, and attending the opening night of BODY MELT also. The same producer also produced ROMPER STOMPER.

Brophy, an academic by profession, used to write (brilliantly) about the genre for the now defunct VIDEO AGE, a rag I often sent anti-censorship letters to. He did many lectures also at various screenings, and was always incredibly well informed. At times, I found his academic take on genre a little too wanky, but, for the most part, he provided much food for thought in a country that treated genre movies like they were pornography.

Why do extras still tempt me to buy a movie I don't really like????

Will watch them only once at best....and audio commentries are too time cosuming for me!!

Yes...I WILL probably get this at some point now.......
