  • Trick or Treat (1986)

Finally watched this one. Features surprisingly high production values for what is a pretty dumb concept. Metal head (played by "Skippy" from Family Ties) is picked on at school, his rock god dies in a freak accident, receives a copy of the rock god's final album that houses his spirit who's now out for revenge.

It's fairly well done but I can't help but think it takes it self a little too seriously given the concept. A lot of fun scenes though and the metal soundtrack is pretty legit.

But it's a picture I've rarely heard mention of. I'd be curious to know what metal heads think of it. Maybe dudes get it confused with Hard Rock Zombies which came out 2 years before this?
"Ah! By god's balls what licentiousness!"

The only thing I remember from this is when a gang of youths turn up at a house and one of them says in a wacky surfer dude voice "It's party time!" whilst holding up a bag of booze or some six packs.

Haha...i liked this one a lot when it first came out..I even spent a great deal of energy tracking down OST.

Was dumb , yes, but entertaining enough...and a couple of good cameos (Ozzy in particular).

I thought there was an issue with securing the soundtrack rights which kept this from getting a legit DVD release several years back. Am I wrong that Anchor Bay was once interested in releasing this?

I recall reading that back around 2001 or so.

Haven't seen this in 35+ years. My spotty teenage self thought it was just ok. Enjoyed the Fastway tunes though.

You'd think for $66.66 (maybe that's not what they're charging; I can't actually check though... probably plus shipping too...) they'd try to sell it to you on a web site that worked and could handle the traffic. Either way I will stick with my old mediabook.

I remember liking this movie enough. I wonder if the CD has just the Fastway songs, or if the other songs and the score are also included.

RED SHIRT HOME VIDEO AND SYNAPSE FILMS BRING THE HEAVY METAL HORROR CLASSIC TRICK OR TREAT TO STANDARD EDITION 4K UHD + BLU-RAY MARCH 11, 2025!

From the early days of DVD, one movie more than any other has been requested by horror fans and metal heads all over: Charles Martin Smith's heavy metal horror classic TRICK OR TREAT. A box office disappointment that found a wide following on home video and cable in the 80s and 90s, it's been curiously out of reach to fans, who would rely on dubious DVDs and imports to get their Halloween heavy horror treat. Now, Red Shirt Pictures and Synapse Films are finally bringing the much-anticipated TRICK OR TREAT to your door in definitive 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases that will make every day Halloween for horror fanatics and headbangers!
