  • 88 Films Releasing Slasher Collection - Don't Go In The Woods & Unhinged & More!

Unhinged will be DVD only but Don't Go In The Woods is getting a Blu-ray release.

    http://www.88films.co.uk/blog.html

"At 88 Films we wanted to release Unhinged on BluRay but, sadly, the elements are not there. However, the forthcoming DVD of Unhinged will mark the launch of 88's new dedication to slasher cinema - from the golden era of the 1980s. This will be the best looking print of the film ever, and it will also come with a brand new commentary from Gronquist himself, who will doubtlessly speak a little about the UK controversy. Forget previous DVDs of this oldie - this is going to be the finest the film has ever looked with a transfer approved by Gronquist himself (see image below). And there will also be a booklet by some guy called Calum Waddell."

"Don't go in the Woods was filmed in 35mm and, as such, the opportunity has arisen for 88 to release this puppy on BluRay. The elements remain and we are thrilled to announce that, getting its UK debut soon, will be this outrageous example of eighties horror hokum (believe it or not, the film played in America on a cinematic double bill with The Hills Have Eyes)."

Nice to see movies not really deserving of quality releases and extras getting them.....Makes me pick them up even though I don't really like them that much...Which I guess is the whole point!!

Looks like 88 just announced they're releasing Dead Of Night on Blu-ray...

"On April 20th, 88 Films is proud to rescue Arthur Penn's masterclass in psycho-stalker suspense DEAD OF WINTER from the vaults!

Making its worldwide HD debut, and starring Mary Steenburgen and Roddy McDowall, this tense bout of seasonal scares was released to critical acclaim back in 1987 and hasn't had a UK bow since rental shops were en vogue!

Aiming for a more highbrow crowd than the many FRIDAY THE 13th spin-offs of the period, DEAD OF WINTER is nonetheless an essential example of the genre and we are thrilled to bring it to our Slasher Classics Collection!"

I still need to see DEAD OF WINTER. It's supposed to be a loose remake of the vastly underrated film noir MY NAME IS JULIA ROSS, and I love that film so I really must get this when it comes out. Always heard good things about it anyway as well.

I've never seen it either but the trailer looks kind of cool.
