  • Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker

Giving this one it's own thread rather than letting it get lost in the main Code Red thread.

This just popped up on Facebook:

"Some screen caps of our new transfer for BUTCHER, BAKER, NIGHTMARE MAKER. (this is the 3rd one we did, as other 2 look really bad). we did it this one using the 35mm camera negatives. It'll be on DVD sometimes in 2014."

Thank you so much on the update on Night Warning (Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker). I have been waiting and waiting and waiting some more for this movie to come out. I thought Code Red had given up on it. I read in their blog early on that there will be a Jimmy Mcnichol interview in the extras. I really hope to see the DVD in 2014 for sure.

Good news. The last time I watched this movie was on VHS.

Due to this (Code Red facebook)

Another DVD label and the rights owner of Horror film received a registered letter from German high court over the sale of that horror film (BLU) to one German individual, as the movie was BANNED in Germany in 1982. DVD Label never sold this Blu to this man nor did USA DVD LABEL have German rights. Most likely this person bought it off Amazon or some other site and the German high court is pointing their finger to a US DVD label and its rights owner who has nothing to do with this. This could be a sick prank by another DVD label, but using the German court as a joke isn't funny. CODE RED's lawyer strongly warns that any film BANNED in any country should not be shipped outside of the USA/CANADA, which means any Video Nasty film that was ever BANNED will no longer be shipped outside of North America. Sorry for this, but one rotten apple killed the spreading of exploitation movies across the world. This also means I can not sell these horror film 3rd party sellers.

Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker won't (I hope it will) be sold to the UK where it is STILL Banned. The film in question that the Article is referring to is Nightmares in a Damaged Brain.

          F-u-u-g-g!

Looks like I'll be ordering this one from Diabolik.

But all this sounds like phoney baloney to me, a kneejerk reaction to a bad joke. Additionally, Code Red's lawyer possibly isn't a lawyer.

Someone should tell Bill that the BBFC would have little issue with the film now, and that it's been screened at the BFI LGBT festival recently: https://twitter.com/BBFC/status/448403108499296256

Sorry, this doesn't make any sense. You can not enforce this on somebody in another country, it's outside of their jurisdiction. How would you enforce any penalty? Now, the person it's being sent to could have a problem, but the sender?

              The whole thing is idiotic.

And simply more ridiculous Code Red í¼ber drama.

It'll be a bit difficult as this, I think, will be released by Code Red on their shop site only.

That's what Bill's saying now, but I reckon things will be different when this title gets released - unless, of course, Bill really doesn't want to be bother with paying customers. He's a prickly sod, but we love him

The business about the lawyer advising him not to sell these titles overseas still sounds like bullshine to me. As Thomas said, Interpol are hardly going to send out some kind of APB for a man selling horror films on DVD: the recipient is the one that's going to be on the receiving end of any trouble; and in the UK, I doubt anyone would consider BUTCHER, BAKER... to be obscene in the 21st Century. At worst, it'd be seized under the Customs Consolidation Act - but I can't imagine even that happening to a film such as this nowadays. (I can't even remember the last time I read of someone having something other than extreme pornography or hentai seized by Customs.) I'm visualising the lawyer being like Dr Gonzo in FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS: 'As your attorney, I advise you to take a hit out of the little brown bottle in my shaving kit: you won't need much, just a tiny taste'.

I agree with you but technically speaking it is still banned as it was last submitted in 1987, I think, & it was denied a classification by the BBFC.

Yep, it was rejected when submitted in 1987; but there's a world of difference between that and the film being considered obscene or indecent, which is what would be needed in order for it to be seized by Customs. And even then, there would be no repercussions for Bill, which any lawyer worth his or her salt should know.

Mind you, the last time I had a package inspected by Customs was a parcel from Xplouted Cinema, and they left that annoying tape they use to say that the package has been cleared all over an X Rated hardbox of one of the Sartana films.
