  • Speak Of The Devil And He Shall Appear!

Satan pops up in horror movies on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes he looks scary, sometimes he looks ridiculous, other times he just looks weird.

For whatever reason I was thinking about this while putting together a price list for a customer today, figured it would be a good enough reason to start a thread on the subject.

So... favorite on screen appearances of Satan? Got any?

    Have at it!

OK, kind of cartoonish and goofy but not entirely without an endearing 'weird' factor. Some interesting design work here. He's got four horns, that's a twist. And his mouth is giant.

I haven't seen this movie in a long, long time. I wonder if it holds up?

In Rock N Roll Nightmare, Satan can be choked by Thor.

I don't really think I need to elaborate on that. It is what it is.

Then you get Viggo playing Satan in The Prophecy. Much more understated, he's got a human appearance. Thor could still probably choke him though.

Bit more of a guilty pleasure, but i do like Peter Stormare's Satan in Constantine.

Ok, so not really Satan - but often confused for Satan! And isn't he referred to as Satan in the US dubbed version? Maybe not...

I think Chris Lee refers to him as the Goat of Mendes, but still this is among my favorite:

Doesn't he follow that line about the Goat of Mendes by saying "the Devil Himself!"? So it is the big guy I guess.

I kinda like this dapper gent:

I said I don't give a damn if you understand
You will get down on your knees just like the devil commands
Rollin' down Satan's Highway again tonight
666 on down the highway tonight
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

I was waiting for some Lucifer Rising/Invocation of my Demon Brother screen shots.

                          There's Deniro in Angel Heart:

There's another good one at the end of Tales From The Hood:

Then there's this guy, forget his name, in that movie by that guy who did Thelma and Louise. Whats his face.

"Ah! By god's balls what licentiousness!"

Not the devil but I sure dig this creepy mask (and Satan is in the movie title). Severely underrated little seasonal flick.

This one can still muster a goosebump or two when seen late at night.

ooh, I forgot about that, but TALES FROM THE HOOD is a good one.

Don't know if he is supposed to be anything more than a demon, but I like the goat demon from THE CHURCH
