The CGI that results from Lance Henriksen meeting the Cenobites is amazing though. Asylum-levels of quality.

Bloodline. I like it a lot too. It's easily my favourite sequel after Hellbound, and I'd watch it over the silly pt 3 any day. That CD cenobite is a real low point in the series.
Inferno was ok, but I couldn't get over the feeling that it would have been a better movie had it not been shoehorned into the Hellraiser franchise. I gave up on the series after that, but Hellraiser and Hellbound are classics that still hold up IMO.

I always thought it was just the Rick Bola Hellraisers (so Hellseeker, Deader and Hell World) that were turned into Hellraiser films from non-Hellraiser scripts?

I remember an interview with someone at Dimension (could have been one of the Weinstein's but I can't remember) just flat out stated that they are taking "off the shelf" scripts and seeing which ones would work as a Hellraiser flick and add in Hellraiser elements. The fifth one (Inferno) is basically a SE7en ripoff but despite this it managed to be a pretty good horror flick and sequel.

I like Hellraiser 2 a whole bunch. I have a major nostalgia-boner for part 3 (because I saw it in theaters). I don't hate part 4 but that's the last one I've seen.

I like 3,5 and 6 a bunch. Really the only sequels I don't like from this franchise are 2,4 and revelations.

                    First one...CLASSIC
                    Second ....Good sequel
Third....Saw it in the theater..felt personally violated when it had finished

                    THE REST...No thanks!

I enjoy Part 3. Guilty pleasure but it was fun. Definitely captures the feel of late 80's/early 90's horror before Scream took over. Plus it at least carries over some of the themes of the original 2 films which were completely abandoned by the later sequels excluding Inferno.

Yeah...but didnt really feel up to the first two parts in the series...It felt like the start of a deviation from the original ideas of HELLRAISER and Barker....The start of the slide so to speak,....It also deemed the start of the "talky" PINHEAD and also the start of making up the rules as you go in regards the box / cenobites....

I guess you can enjoy it as a late '80s style horror movie and have fun with it ...but I was expecting HELLRAISER 3....not this....

I agree but -again- I enjoyed it for what it is. I like talky Pinhead, Doug Bradly takes that dialog to a new level.

It was the death of PINHEAD as a scary character...In much the same way as what happened to FREDDY eventually......At least MYERS doesnt talk!!!

Hellraiser 3 is a bit like Halloween 3... If you can let go of your expectations of similarity to the first two films, it's a cool little horror movie. I mean, it's chock full of wild and crazy kills, great effects, good acting and far out characters and set pieces. It's just not the same tone as Hellraiser 1.
And also like Halloween 3, you really want to make sure you're watching an uncut version.
