  • Jeff Lieberman's Remote Control

So somewhat quietly I guess Mr. Lieberman put out this unreleased entry from his filmography on DVD & Blu-ray all by himself as an indy release.

    From Fangoria:

Cult NYC based filmmaker Jeff Lieberman is best known for his trifecta of scrappy shockers, 1976's SQUIRM, 1978's BLUE SUNSHINE and 1981's JUST BEFORE DAWN, with many in-the-know viewers having an affinity for his wild 2004 black comedy horror film SATAN'S LITTLE HELPER. But whatever happened to his prophetic 1987 thriller REMOTE CONTROL, you might ask?

Well, why dwell on the past. It came, it went and it has been largely unseen but now, finally, this awesome slice of Liebermania is coming to remastered blu and DVD, courtesy of the man himself, just in time for its 25th anniversary.

The film stars Kevin Dillon (ENTOURAGE) and Jennifer Tilly (BRIDE OF CHUCKY) in a darkly humorous tale about an alien invasion plot that attacks its victims via “infected” VHS tapes. Before RINGU there was REMOTE CONTROL!

    Features will include:

    • New 2K HD transfer

    • All-new commentary with writer-director Jeff Lieberman

    • Publicity Still Gallery

    • 1.85:1 widescreen / English 2.0 / 88 minutes

    Rated R

Each brand-new, factory-pressed copy will be autographed and numbered by writer-director Jeff Lieberman. (Factory shrink wrapping will be removed to facilitate the signing process.)

To get your greasy mitts on your own copy go to the REMOTE CONTROL site here. And be sure to visit Jeff at FANGORIA's Falls Horror Fest , June 8th and 9th in Niagara Falls, Canada!
    Rock! Shock! Pop!

Yeah, but will he write "Reed Richards is a dick!!" like Albert Pyun did on my Capt. America DVD?
Still, $29.95...eeyow. I spent like $35 on Massacre Mafia Style (due to people gushing over it) and it totally wasn't worth it. Shit movie, shit package.

Well, with MMS it was probably not a great idea to drop that kind of cash on a movie you've never seen - other people gushing alone isn't always your best bet for deciding something like this. The main problem with that one was the shit transfer however.

With REMOTE CONTROL since Lieberman has access to the original elements and is even doing a Blu I'm guessing the transfer will be very good. It's also autographed and the price includes shipping. I'm familiar with the film and like it so its worth the $35 to me. But I wouldn't be buying it without seeing the film first or at least a decent amount of clips.

Got the blu-ray, watched it, no regrets at all. I wish I'd been alive in the 80s. On Earth.

Is this movie any good/fun? Sell me on it! 45$ (shipped to Sweden) is a pretty expensive blind buy...

I will try to watch it tonight if I have time...

Jeff did say that only 1000 were pressed and once they are gone, that's it...

Watched it this weekend and enjoyed the hell out of it...It is really fun in that 80's kind of way...

I paid $35.00 for it straight from Jeff, and while I kind of had buyers remorse at first, I'm glad I picked it up...
