    Arrow Video: Motel Hell
    Dual Format Blu-ray + DVD - £12.99
    Cat No: FCD790

    Released: 13 May 2013

Starring: Rory Calhoun, Paul Linke, Nancy Parsons
    Directed by: Kevin Connor
    Rating: TBC
    Duration: TBC

Overview: “It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent fritters!” cackle the brother-and-sister team behind the finest smoked meats in the county. They also run the friendly Motel Hello (the 'o' in the neon sign sometimes goes on the blink), and no matter how many times you've seen Psycho or The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you can be sure that everything will be perfectly above board here as Vincent's brother Bruce is the local sheriff.

Western veteran Rory Calhoun gives a lipsmackingly demented performance as Farmer Vincent, whose twinkling bonhomie conceals a deeply depraved secret.

Directed by Kevin Connor (maker of much-loved British genre classics The Land That Time Forgot and Warlords of Atlantis) and with legendary DJ Wolfman Jack as a fire-and-brimstone TV preacher, this is a gleefully twisted horror-comedy that climaxes with a showstopping chainsaw duel.

    Special Features:
    - High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentation of the film
    - Optional English SDH subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
    - Audio commentary with director Kevin Connor moderated by Calum Waddell

    - Ida, Be Thy Name: A look back at Motel Hell's frightful female protagonist Ida Smith - and the secrets of creating a convincing slasher siren, with Scream Queens Elissa Dowling and Chantelle Albers, genre commentator Staci Layne Wilson and critic Shelagh Rowan-Legg
    - Back to the Backwoods: Director Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red) speaks about the importance of Motel Hell
    - Original Trailer

    - Collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film by Kim Newman, illustrated with original archive stills and posters

    Arrow Video: Spider Baby
    Dual Format Blu-ray + DVD - £15.99
    Cat No: FCD794

    Released: 24 Jun 2013

Payment for pre-order items will be collected now for despatch on the release date.

Starring: Lon Chaney Jr., Carol Ohmar, Sid Haig
    Directed by: Jack Hill
    Rating: TBC
    Duration: TBC

Overview: The credits dub this “the maddest story ever told”, a promise that's well on the way to being fulfilled in the opening scene alone, when Virginia traps and kills a hapless deliveryman in her makeshift web. She's one of three siblings who suffer from a unique genetic disorder that causes them to regress back to childhood, while retaining the physical strength and sexual maturity of adults.

Lon Chaney Jr gave one of his most memorable late performances as Bruno, their guardian and protector, who has managed to cover up their crimes until two distant relatives lay claim to their house. When they insist on moving in, Bruno has to cross his fingers and hope that the 'children' behave towards their new guests...

This was the first solo feature by Jack Hill, whom Quentin Tarantino dubbed “the Howard Hawks of exploitation filmmaking”, and it remains one of his wildest and weirdest.

    Special Features:
    - High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentation of the main feature, available in the UK for the first time
    - High Definition transfer of the feature approved by director Jack Hill
    - Isolated Music and Effects track
    - English SDH subtitles for deaf and hearing impaired
    - Audio commentary featuring Jack Hill and star Sid Haig
    - The Hatching of Spider Baby - Interviews with Jack Hill, Sid Haig, star Mary Mitchel, fan Joe Dante and more on the making of the film
    - Spider Stravinsky: The Cinema Sounds of Ronald Stein - The composer of 'The Terror' and 'Attack of the 50 Foot Woman' among others is remembered by Harlene Stein, Jack Hill, American Cinematheque's Chris D. and others
    - The Merrye House Revisited - Jack Hill revisits the original house that was used as the main location in the film
    - Alternate opening title sequence
    - Extended scene
    - Gallery of behind-the-scenes images
    - The Host (1960) - Jack Hill's early short film featuring Sid Haig in his first starring role [30 mins]
    - Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Graham Humpreys

      Arrow Video: Knightriders
      Dual Format Blu-ray + DVD - £12.99
      Cat No: FCD779

      Released: 22 Apr 2013

Starring: Ed Harris, Patricia Tallman, Tom Savinni
      Directed by: George A Romero
      Rating: TBC
      Duration: TBC

Overview: Made after the zombie classic Dawn of the Dead, George A. Romero's Knightriders is both clearly the work of the same director (there are lots of familiar faces from his other films) and a marked change of tone. There's still plenty of action, but it takes the form of jousting by people wearing full medieval armour... while riding motorbikes.

Ed Harris, soon to become a major star, is the leader of a troupe of travelling entertainers trying to live their lives according to the ideals of King Arthur - no easy feat in Reagan's America, where the outside world and its financial realities constantly encroach on their dreams.

With a memorably eccentric cast of characters (including make-up effects genius Tom Savini in a major role, and a cameo from novelist Stephen King) and a complex, nuanced script, Knightriders is Romero's warmest and most personal film to date.

      Special Features:
      - High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentation
      - Optional English SDH subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
      - Audio commentary with George Romero, Tom Savini, John Amplas and Christine Romero
      - The Genesis of a Legend - Star Ed Harris remembers his first leading role
      - A Date with Destiny - Co-star Tom Savini reflects on Knightriders
      - Medieval Maiden - An interview with actress Patricia Tallman
      - Theatrical Trailer
      - TV Spots
      - Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Nat Marsh
      - Collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film by author and critic Brad Stevens, an archival interview with Romero and a new interview with composer Donald Rubinstein, illustrated with original archive stills and posters

I can't see it not getting a Blu-ray release, but Shout might disappoint.

Even though it isn't mentioned here, for any region B locked people, Arrow's BLOW OUT will be using the same master that Criterion used, so, barring any bad Arrow compression, it should look great.

Gotta love how Arrow "collect money now for despatch on release date" for items 6 MONTHS AWAY FROM RELEASE. Pretty sleazy.

Actually, I totally get why you would say that...but I really like the practice and wish more companies did it (or at least offered it as an option). I personally like to just pay for something when I order it and not have to worry about remembering that money is gonna disappear from my account at some uncertain point in the future...

So, someone found this card in their copy of BAISE MOI and posted it on FB:

This. Is. Freaking. AWESOME! Even though it's coming from Arrow, I'm still thrilled about this and the prospects for Corman-Poe in HD!

Shame for those that are region A locked that the Corman-Poe titles have been licensed to TGG, who shove them into budget pack DVDs, while region B gets special edition Blu-rays from Arrow.

Arrow Blu-ray's Coming Soon: Motel Hell, Spiderbaby And Knightriders!

Makes you wonder what they're spreading out over the 2 LIFEFORCE Blu rays since the Shout is a single. Maybe the theatrical and director's cuts?

With the Shout coming so much earlier at least we'll know if the Arrow has any exclusive extras before plunking out the cash.

                            The Car Blu-ray

THERE'S NOWHERE TO RUN, NOWHERE TO HIDE, NO WAY TO STOP... THE CAR

Made when Jaws was still the most successful film of all time, The Car has almost exactly the same premise, but replaces the ocean with the Utah desert, and the shark with a Lincoln Continental Mark III of possibly supernatural origin.

When two teenage cyclists and a hitch-hiking musician are killed in apparently deliberate hit-and-runs, the police department of Santa Ynez investigates, whereupon the seemingly driverless vehicle turns on its hapless officers as well. And when the car strikes rather too close to the home of Captain Wade Parent (James Brolin), he vows to stop at nothing to defeat it.

Director Elliot Silverstein (Cat Ballou, A Man Called Horse) keeps everything as slick and streamlined as the car itself, turning the desert landscape into a powerfully mythic backdrop for a potent clash between the forces of good and those of inexplicable but clearly implacable evil.

                            Special Features:
                            - High Definition presentation (1080p), on Blu-ray for the first time in the world!
                            - Optional English SDH subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
                            - Audio commentary with director Elliot Silverstein moderated by Calum Waddell

                            - Hitchhike the Hell: Actor John Rubinstein recalls becoming a victim of The Car
                            - Original Trailer
                            - Easter Egg
                            - Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Joe Wilson
                            - Collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film by Cullen Gallagher as well as a brand new interview with co-writer Michael Butler conducted by Calum Waddell, illustrated with original archive stills and artwork

                            Released 15th July

                              Dressed to Kill Blu-ray

                              THE LATEST FASHION IN MURDER

After sexually frustrated housewife Kate Miller (Angie Dickinson) has a session with her psychiatrist Dr Elliott (Michael Caine), she silently seduces a man in an art gallery, an assignation that ends in murder and the only witness, high-class prostitute Liz Blake (Nancy Allen) being stalked by the killer in turn.

One of Brian De Palma's darkest and most controversial suspense thrillers, Dressed to Kill was as acclaimed for its stylish set-pieces and lush Pino Donaggio score as it was condemned for its sexual explicitness and blatant borrowings from Alfred Hitchcock in general and Psycho in particular.

But the glee with which De Palma turns this material inside out is completely infectious, as he delves deep inside the troubled psyches of his characters (critic Pauline Kael said that the film was "permeated with the distilled essence of impure thoughts") in order to undermine expectations at every turn.

                              Special Features:
                              - High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation of the feature
                              - Optional original uncompressed Mono 2.0 Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Surround Sound
