Holy shit, I forgot how bad Texas Chainsaw is. I saw it in 3D when it first came out on Blu and forgot most of it. I just picked up the cheap unrated Blu Ray from Germany. There's very little extra bloodshed, it's pretty tame in either version. Ed Wood could have shat out a better script than this. The cop follows a blood trail that's supposed to be from one person yet would actually be enough blood from 50 people. Alexandra Daddario would have to be 39. Scott Eastwood disappears. Drayton is not Leatherface's brother. Leatherface recognises his cousin's name despite her being adopted and renamed etc. Really, the only reason to watch this is Alexandra Daddario's heaving bosom, and that really needs to be seen in 3D. I actually think this is worse than Part 4. At least Matthew McConaughey was fun to watch in that.

I watched the 2017 LEATHERFACE last night. It didn't suck, but it has the same hopeless tone as the remake and BEGINNING. It has some awesome and brutal FX, but it's not very fun and the sadism grows tiresome after a while. One thing I found disturbing (but not uncommon in modern horror) is that they're almost asking that you cheer for Leatherface and the psychos - that idea doesn't work for me in the context of this particular style of film; there's no real humour and it's just grim, and you're expected to jump for joy when people are brutally dispatched. It's not like an '80s slasher, where you're encouraged to enjoy the kills. Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?
