From Twitch:
"In a surprising but compelling pairing, Drive and Pusher director Nicolas Winding Refn has reportedly teamed up with American exploitation icon William Lustig to produce a prequel to Lustig's 1988 feature Maniac Cop.
Says Lustig in an interview with Daily Gridhouse:
It's going to be more a prequel than anything else, I am really excited to come back to this world especially since Nick is going to be a part of it... [Nicolas Winding Refn] has been talking to us about it for a while now and I had an idea that would work so we're going to do it."
As an unashamed fan of all three of the original films, I'm kind of geeking out just a little bit right now. I still haven't seen Drive and I know I need to - I know it was quite popular with a lot of people whose taste in movies I trust. Hopefully this is in good hands - but who will play the lead? Without Robert Z'Dar, who is probably too old at this point, I dunno....
